Canterbury Park and Sandown Lakeside are the places to be this Wednesday, with competitive fields and strong prize money on offer.

Canterbury Park Race 5

#8 Sister Daae

Sister Daae is knocking on the door. The Zoustar mare is racing well without winning, and I suspect her next victory is just around the corner. Her record in the wet must be respected, and the longer trip looks ideal at this stage of her campaign. The Chris Waller polish will play a role, and the inside draw gives her another leg-up. Her recent winning record is the primary concern.

John Dory looks dangerous on the quick back-up. The Ace High gelding is a winner at the track and distance, and he was game in defeat at his latest outing. He should be rock-hard fit after a lengthy campaign, and the track conditions suit to a tee. He needs to put another victory on the board.

Let’s Fly is over the odds. The Flying Artie mare looks well placed in this company, and the 3kg apprentice claim puts her into all winning conversations. The inside draw is advantageous, and she grows and extra leg in the slop. She tends to find one or two better at the pointy end of a contest.

Suggested Bet: Sister Daae @ $6.50

Canterbury Park RACE 7

#5 Steel Strike

Steel Strike looks cherry ripe for a first-up tilt. The Exceed And Excel gelding has turned heads recently at the jump-outs, and he is a winner at the track and distance fresh. The inside draw puts one hoof on the till, and his opening quote has been met with great support. The stable are training winners for fun at present, and I suspect this could be the first of many victories of his new preparation. Hard to toss!

Barbaric Lad can run a cheeky race at a price. The Brutal gelding was a brilliant last-start winner at Caulfield, and his best form reads extremely well for this event. He races well with a toe in the ground, and his double-figure quote has been more than nibbled at. The 1250m won’t pose any problems, and he finds a winnable assignment. Acid test!

Zouripper is over the odds. The Zoustar gelding savaged the line late at Rosehill at his latest outing, and I suspect he entered most punters’ little black books. The step out in trip helps is cause, and he meets easier opposition. The carpark draw and recent winning record are among the primary concerns.

Suggested Bet: Steel Strike @ $5.00

Sandown Lakeside Race 6

#5 Queen Peta

Queen Peta was a brilliant winner on debut at Cranbourne. Her trials leading into her first-up heroics were classy, and I suspect she can go through her grades successfully over the coming months. The inside draw will allow the Dirty Work filly to occupy the box-seat throughout, and if she can get off the dulex as they run for the doctor, she may prove hard to hold out. The class rise is her biggest challenge, however; she looks smart with plenty of upside.

Beautiful Bevy will have plenty of supporters after recording a dominant last-start victory at Ballarat. She comes to town up and about, and she strips fitter as a result of recent racing. The Peter Moody factor must be respected, and Zac Spain could ride a broomstick to victory at present. Jumping from a different postcode is the biggest deterrent.

Tennessee Song has been racing well without threatening. The American Pharaoh filly meets easier opposition, and I suspect she has the fitness edge on the majority of her rivals after a lengthy preparation. The trip suits, and the current track conditions play into her favour. She will be thereabouts with even luck in transit.

Suggested Bet: Queen Peta @ $2.45

Sandown Lakeside Race 7

#1 Tennessee Bound

Tennessee Bound looks the best bet on a tricky and competitive program. The Written Tycoon mare was an arrogant winner fresh, and she meets the usual suspects on Wednesday. The 3kg apprentice claim makes her assignment more realistic, and the inside draw should give her rivals sleepless nights leading into the event. The heavy track or bad luck in running are her only obstacles.

Stage ‘N’ Screen is over the odds. The Ace High mare caught the eyes of punters late fresh, and she finds her pet distance second-up. She is a winner previously at the track, and she has been specked at a price since acceptances. From barrier eleven she will drop back and let the race unfold, and if she can stay in touch with the peloton during the middle stages of the race, she can play a role. Major danger!

Zunna can cause the biggest boil-over since Polly left the kettle on. The Zoustar mare was a brilliant first-up winner at Pakenham, and she was good without scoring at Caulfield at her latest outing. The perfect inside draw puts her into all winning conversations, and I suspect she has been trained to the minute for her third-up assignment. A must for all broader multiples and exotics.

Suggested Bet: Tennessee Bound  @ $2.00
