Canterbury Park and Caulfield Heath are the feature meetings with competitive fields and plenty of prize money on offer, mid-week racing has never looked so good!

Canterbury Park Race 5

#3 Skycatcher

Skycatcher looks the best bet on a tricky and competitive mid-week program. The Staphanos gelding excels in the wet, and his first-up performance at Wyong caught the eyes of the punters late. The step out in trip suits, and the inform Tyler Schiller takes the reins. The flood of early money tells a story, and he meets easier opposition. Hard to toss.

Louie’s Legacy was good without winning fresh at Canberra. The big boy strips fitter as a result of recent racing, and he draws the cherry on Wednesday. The Factor gelding will eat up every inch of the 1550m, and the stable has an impressive winning strike rate at city circuits. He tends to find one or two better at the pointy end of a contest.

Format is over the odds. The Frankel gelding is racing better than it reads in the Bible, and his recent jump-outs have looked ominous. He finds a winnable assignment, and the form around him has stood up time and again. The camp is airbourne at present, and he has been specked at a price. Acid test!

Suggested Bet: Skycatcher @ $3.40

Canterbury Park RACE 6

#8 Picture Perfect

Perfect Picture is coming off a forgive run. Nothing went right in her debut outing for the John Thompson yard, and I expect an improved performance on Wednesday. She was heavily backed at her latest start, and I expect the money to come for her once again late in betting. The Kerrin McEvoy factor must be respected, and she grows an extra leg in the wet.

The Extreme Cat could run a drum at a decent price. The Extreme Choice gelding loves the sting out of the ground, and he has been racing consistently well in better company. The 3kg apprentice claim could prove decisive, and he is ready to peak after several solid performances for the current spell. Acid test!

San Marino was good at Albury fresh for his new trainer. The rising nine-year-old looks well placed in this company, and the sprinkle of early money at the cricket-score odds suggests another bold and forward performance. The 1250m suits at this stage of the campaign, and he looks the likely leader on paper. Jumping from another postcode may decide his fate during the early stages of the contest. I have seen worse $91 pops!

Suggested Bet: Picture Perfect @ $12.00

Caulfield Heath Race 5

#10 La Belle Grande

La Belle Grande is a model of consistency. The Highland Reel mare should have the fitness edge on the majority of her rivals, and she finds a winnable assignment on Wednesday. The step out in trip suits, and her early quote has been more than nibbled at. The middle gate provides a menagerie of options in the run, and the current track conditions suit to a tee. Acid test!

Deeling Aces was an impressive first-up winner at Corowa. The Dundeel mare comes to town up and about, and she finds her ideal conditions. The inside draw puts her into all winning conversations, and a victory here wouldn’t surprise. The longer trip suits, and she will be savaging the line late. Over the odds!

On Broadway is too classy to dismiss. The Zoustar mare has the best exposed form in the race, and she has rubbed shoulders with some serious gallopers during the early stages of her career. Her first-up romp at Cranbourne was brilliant, and she was game in defeat at her latest outing in a hot form race. The carpark draw is the primary concern.

Suggested Bet: La Belle Grande @ $21.00

Caulfield Heath Race 7

#8 Killiana

Killiana is ready to win. Her first-up performance at Sale was first class, and a recent barrier trial will have her cherry ripe for Wednesday’s assignment. She strips fitter as a result of recent racing, and her opening quote has been met with significant early support. The inside draw is advantageous, and the key booking of Mark Zahra could prove the winning difference. Hard to toss!

Dapper Darri is racing well without winning. Both runs this campaign have turned heads, and I suspect he has been trained to the minute for his third-up assignment. The middle draw will help his case, and the camp are training winners for fun at present. His racing pattern and style will always require an element of good fortune.

Documentary is in a rich vein of form. The big boy deserves his opportunity at this level, and the 3kg apprentice claim could prove a training masterstroke. The 1000m suits, and I suspect he has further improvement to come for the current campaign. In the mix with even luck in transit.

Suggested Bet: Killiana @ $4.60
