Kensington and Sandown Lakeside are front and centre this Wednesday. Find out below who our experts are expecting to take home the mid-week cash!
Kensington Race 5
#3 Crossbow
Crossbow is ready to explode third-up from a spell. The 3kg apprentice claim could prove a training masterstroke, and the red rug should ensure a soft trip in transit. The Chris Waller factor must be respected, and a win here would be a great reward for consistent effort. His recent winning record is the primary concern.
Rivendell comes to town after racing well on the country and provincial circuits. The Ole Kirk gelding possesses a significant turn of foot, and he deserves his shot in this line-up. The big boy will drift back during the early stages of the event, and if he can stay in touch with the leaders throughout, he can loom to win late. Over the odds.
Just Maz has made a perfect start to her racing career. The Justify filly oozes class, and her versatility alone puts her into all winning conversations. The camp has a high opinion of the flashy three-year-old, and the flood of early money looks ominous. This is her hardest test to date; however, she can continue on her winning way. Major player!
Suggested Bet: Crossbow @ $23.00
Kensington RACE 7
#2 Glad You Think So
Glad You Think So is ready to win. The So You Think gelding finds a suitable event, and both outings this campaign have been full of merit. The 3kg apprentice claim puts one hoof on the till, and I suspect he is ready to tackle the longer trip. The early money tells a story, and his camp has a great winning strike rate in town. Hard to toss!
Cap Saint Martin turned heads of punters in his Australian debut. The Persian King gelding savaged the line late, and he put the writing on the wall for a second-up victory. The perfect inside draw should put his key rivals on notice, and he comes in well under the weight scale. Acid test!
Kenmare Bay is a model of consistency. The New Bay gelding hasn’t missed a placing since the moon landing, and I suspect he has the fitness edge on the majority of his rivals after a lengthy campaign. He traditionally performs well at the track, and the 56.5kg in this company is a luxury. He may need some luck from the awkward alley.
Suggested Bet: Glad You Think So @ $7.50
Sandown Lakeside Race 5
#3 Dirty Look
Dirty Look was a brilliant last-start winner at the track. The Super Seth filly showed an enormous turn of foot, and I suspect she can go on with it here. The step out in trip suits, and she strips fitter as a result of recent racing. The current track conditions are advantageous, and she has been well supported in most all-in markets. The carpark draw is the primary concern.
Cooly can resume a winner! The Cool Aza Beel filly has been trialling exceptional well into her first-up assignment, and she looks well placed in this company on exposed form. The 1400m is the perfect staring point to her campaign, and a victory here could springboard her into better events. Her racing pattern and style always requires an element of good fortune.
Epeiric was a dominant winner at Sale at her latest outing. The Saxon Warrior Filly looks talented, and I suspect she has further improvement to come for the campaign. The enigmatic three-year-old deserves her shot at this level, and her opening quote has been more than nibbled at. Watch for her late!
Suggested Bet: Dirty Look @ $5.00
Sandown Lakeside Race 7
#3 Blistering
Blistering is winning for fun at present. The Ready For Victory mare is in career-best form, and she finds her pet distance on Wednesday. I suspect she has the fitness edge on the majority of her rivals, and she meets the usual suspects. The inside draw is advantageous, and her opening quote has been met with great support. The grandstand weight is the biggest deterrent.
Boga Legend is ready to peak. Both performances this campaign have been building towards a victory, and he finds a winnable third-up assignment. The mile suits at this stage of his preparation, and I expect his quote to shorten significantly before the barriers open. His overall winning record is the primary concern.
Staunch is over the odds. The Flying Artie gelding is racing better than it reads in the bible, and a win here wouldn’t surprise. The inside draw helps his cause, and his pilot is riding winners for fun at present. Dismiss at your own peril!
