Saturday Best Tips & Previews, March 21st

Super Saturday: 6x Group 1 races! Golden Slipper headlines at Rosehill with Ryder, Ranvet, Guineas & Galaxy, plus William Reid Stakes at The Heath.

An incredible six Group 1 events are on the menu for punters this Saturday. In Sydney town, we head to Rosehill for the $5,000,000 Golden Slipper, the George Ryder Stakes, the Ranvet Stakes, the Rosehill Guineas, and The Galaxy! South of the border, the William Reid Stakes is the feature event at the Heath. What a Super Saturday!

Rosehill Gardens Race 5

#1 Sir Delius

Sir Delius was ok without threatening first-up from a spell. The one-time Melbourne Cup favourite will strip fitter as a result of recent racing, and he looks well suited under the weight-for-age conditions. The Craig Williams factor must be respected, and his record on soft and heavy tracks should put his key rivals on notice. He is undefeated second-up, and the form around him is elite. Hard to toss!

Aeliana has been chasing Via Sistina, Autumn Glow, Fangirl, Mr Brightside, and a host of other quality Group 1 gallopers. She finds her pet distance here, and this looks like a very winnable assignment. The current track conditions suit to a tee, and a victory would be great reward for effort. Happy to avoid the $1.60 quote with her recent winning record.

Suggested Bet: Sir Delius @ $3.30

Rosehill Gardens Race 6

#1 Observer

Observer joined an elite club with a victory in the Group 1 Australian Guineas. The big boy led the field a merry dance, and he was tough as old boots late. The step out in trip suits, and the inside draw will provide a menagerie of options in the run. His versatility alone puts one hoof on the till, and the flood of early money tells a story. A wet track may be his undoing.

Autumn Boy is ready to win. Both performances this campaign have been good without winning, and he chased home a freak at his latest outing. He is ready to explode third-up from a spell, and he has been screaming out for the 2000m since the moon landing. His racing pattern and style always requires an element of good fortune.

Suggested Bet: Observer @ $3.00

Autumn Glow is one out of the box! The Autumn Sun mare was a brilliant first-up winner, and she put a world-class field to the sword at her latest outing. The fact she remains undefeated and untested at this stage of her career is ridiculous, and there are no signs of the picket fence next her name getting any smaller. The 1500m suits, and James McDonald is edging closer to a giant piece of history of his own. World-class!

Lady Shenandoah is ready to spoil the party. Both her efforts this campaign have been rock-solid, and I suspect this is her major goal for the autumn. The trip is ideal at this stage of her campaign, and I suspect she will save every inch in the run from the plumb draw. She can be the one if the favourite has an off day.

Suggested Bet: Autumn Glow @ $1.30

Rosehill Gardens Race 8

#7 Zambales

Zambles disappointed the punters when beaten as an odds-on pop at his latest outing. He is racing better than it reads in the bible, and he was a victim of circumstances with a track bias at headquarters. He should be rock-hard fit after a lengthy campaign, and his performance behind Streisand in the Blue Diamond, must be commended. The key appointment of Nash Rawiller must be respected, and the middle gate puts him into the mix. He will grow an extra leg in the predicted heavy conditions, and his opening quote has received strong support. Over the odds!

Stretan Ruler is poised to strike. The Wild Ruler colt put his rivals to the sword in his Sydney debut, and he was game in defeat behind one of the Slipper fancies at his latest outings. His cruising speed alone puts him into all winning conversations, and I suspect he will appreciate thrive with a little bit of give in the ground. Chad Schofield could ride a broomstick to victory at present, and I expect him to figure in the finish with the right run in transit. He may need to find a couple of extra gear to compete with several of the speed machines in the contest.

Suggested Bet: Zambales @ $18.00

Rosehill Gardens Race 9

#5 Reserve Bank

Reserve Bank can win fresh. The Capitalist entire rounded finished his last preparation with a Group 1 victory in Adelaide, and I suspect he is ready to explode first-up from a spell. His jump-outs leading into this assignment have been rock-solid, and I suspect Rosehill will suit his racing pattern and style. The inside draw is ideal, and Damian Lane is riding winners for fun at present. Over the odds!

Marhoona is edging towards her next victory. Last year’s Golden Slipper winner savaged the line at her latest outing, and she deserves her shot at more Group 1 glory on Saturday. The 1100m suits, and I suspect she has been trained to the minute for her third-up run. The awkward gate and her recent winning record are among the primary concerns.

Suggested Bet: Reserve Bank @ $8.00

Caulfield Race 8

#4 Angel Capital

Angel Capital was luckless in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap. The big boy only saw daylight late, and I suspect he would have got the money if he had clear air during the final stanza. The enigmatic Harry Angel colt is always thereabouts, and the form around him is first-class. His performance on the Everest is still fresh in his memory, and his best effort is good enough to take this out. Unfortunately, he has the ability to misbehave in transit.

Jimmysstar is one! On his day he is arguably the best sprinter in the country, and he looks extremely well placed in this company.  He traditionally performs well fresh, and he loves the heath more than Might And Power. His turn of foot is significant, and I suspect he will jump well into the red. His tactical speed is exceptional, and the pilot has a winning association. Watch for him late!

Suggested Bet: Angel Capital @ $10.00
