Rosehill Gardens and Sandown Hillside are the feature meetings this Wednesday. With plenty of value on offer and competitive benchmark racing expected at both venues, find out below who our experts are expecting to take home the mid-week cash
rOSEHILL GARDENS Race 5
#2 BANJORA
Banjora was a strong winner first-up at Gosford. The I Am Invincible gelding strips fitter as a result, and he finds a very suitable assignment on Wednesday. The undefeated four-year-old will appreciate the step out in trip, and the inside draw puts on hoof on the till. Hard to toss!
Fierce has made a perfect start to his racing career. The Capitalist gelding put his rivals to the sword at both career starts to date, and he looks untapped. The flood of early money speaks volumes, and the Hawkes polish must be respected. The significant class rise is the primary concern.
Matima is over the odds. The Lonhro gelding is racing better than it suggests in the bible, and he looks well placed in this company. His first-up record is rock-solid, and the 1100m is the perfect starting point for his autumn campaign. Acid test!
Suggested Bet: Banjora @ $2.20
Rosehill Gardens RACE 7
#2 FIDDLERS GREEN
Fiddlers Green was good without winning first-up at Randwick. The Merchant Navy gelding was pipped in the shadows, and I suspect the camp are out for redemption in this event. The 3kg apprentice claim puts him into all winning calculations, and his record second-up at the distance should have his rivals on notice. Clearly the one to beat.
Pictor can play a role for the mighty Waller yard. The Written Tycoon colt resumes after a consistent debut campaign, and is trials leading into his fresh assignment have been ominous. The 1400m suits, and James McDonald’s key booking could prove decisive. The inside draw is a plus, and the flood of early money paints a picture. Dismiss at your own peril.
Let’s Go Barbie is racing well at present. The Yes Yes Yes mare has form around some serious gallopers. and she looks well placed here. Seven furlongs looks her best trip, and her price has been more than nibbled at. Will figure in the finish with even luck in transit.
Suggested Bet: Fiddlers Green @ $9.50
Sandown Hillside Race 6
#1 AQUEDUCT
Aqueduct caught the eyes of punters first-up at Cranbourne. The Dubious gelding savaged the line late from a different suburb, and he looks poised to strike on Wednesday. The 2kg apprentice claim puts on hoof on the till. and the camp are training winners for fun at present. His racing pattern and style always requires an element of good fortune.
Rock Them Jools was an impressive last-start winner. The Fastnet Rock gelding is ultra-honest, and he deserves his shot at this level on Wednesday. The drop in distance could prove a training masterstroke, and his opening quote has been met with great support. Commands respect.
The well-named Hot Chips can run a race at a decent quote. The Toronado mare comes to town boasting solid country and provincial form, and she is a must for all broader multiples and exotics. The current track conditions suit to a tee, and I suspect her quote will shorten significantly if the heavens open. Not the worst.
Suggested Bet: Aqueduct @ $27.00
Sandown Hillside Race 7
#3 HEDONIST
Hedonist has hardly put a foot wrong all campaign. The Headwater gelding was a brilliant winner two stars back at Moe, and he was only out bobbed at his latest outing at Caulfield. The big boy looks the likely leader on paper, and a victory here could catapult him into some serious autumn events. The 59kg and his overall winning record are among the primary concerns.
Test Of Love will have supporters after producing a gutsy fresh win at Sale. The Time Test gelding didn’t have much luck throughout, but he still showed his rivals a clean pair of heels in the final furlong. He stays under notice, and the tsunami of early money indicates another bold showing on Wednesday. Take on trust!
Legio Ten needs to recapture his mojo. The Exopshere gelding hasn’t won since late 2023, and his best form seems a distant memory. The rising seven-year-old still teases his supporters with glimpses of his best, and he finds a suitable event on Wednesday. A return to form would prove too strong for his rivals, and there has been a sprinkle of money for him since acceptances. He needs to put another victory on the board!
