Warwick Farm and Mornington are the places to be this Wednesday. With plenty of value on offer and competitive benchmark racing expected at both venues, find out below who our experts are expecting to take home an early Christmas present!
Warwick Farm Race 4
#9 Placid Pearl
Placid Pearl looks poised to strike. The D’argento mare has finished on the heels of the winners all campaign, and I suspect she is ready to taste victory on Wednesday. The form around her has stood up time and again, and the tsunami of early money indicates another bold and forward performance. The middle gate will allow her to drift back and find her hooves, and if she is within reach of the peloton as heads turn for home, she will be hard to hold out. Her racing pattern and style always requires an element of good fortune.
Format is the class runner of the field. The Frankel gelding oozes class, and he meets easier opposition here. He has been calling out for the longer trip since Donald Trump was in high school, and I suspect he has the fitness edge on the majority of his rivals after a lengthy campaign. The grandstand weight and carpark draw are among the primary concerns; however, please be sure to dismiss at your own peril.
Sting In The Tail is racing well at present. All runs this campaign have been noticed by the punters, and his opening quote has been significantly nibbled at. He loves Warwick Farm more than Tie The Knot, and the longer trip will play into his favour. The Chris Waller factor must be respected, and Zac Lloyd could ride a broomstick to victory at present. He can make his presence felt late with even luck in transit.
Suggested Bet: Placid Pearl @ $3.20
Warwick Farm RACE 6
#7 Amreekiyah
Amreekiyah will start one of the shortest-priced favourites on the program. The Justify mare was good without winning fresh, and I suspect she strips fitter as a result of recent racing. Her record at the trip must be respected, and the perfect inside draw will ensure a soft trip throughout. The Snowden camp has a huge opinion of the enigmatic four-year-old, and I expect her to jump well into the red. Only bad luck in running will stop her from greeting the judge before her rivals.
Roussillon can run a race at the cricket-score odds. The Exceed And Excel gelding was a solid winner at Ballarat two starts back, and his recent performance at Cranbourne was good without scoring. The inside draw puts him into all winning calculations, and I suspect this has been his target race all campaign. Any further market support at the double-figure quote may put the writing on the wall, and the Victorian form can measure up in old Sydney town. Take on trust!
Callenem Thru isn’t the worst 50-1 pop running around mid-week. She has rubbed shoulders with some serious gallopers this campaign, and she finds a more suitable assignment on Wednesday. Her career record is building nicely, and the middle gate draw will allow her to roll forward and take up the prominent position. The five-year-old Cable Bay mare should be fit as a fiddle after a decent preparation, and the handicapper has missed her with the allocated feather weight. She can run a mighty race at a price!
Suggested Bet: Amreekiyah @ $2.70
Mornington Race 5
#1 Let'sfacethemusic
Let’sfacethemusic is ready to win. Both performances this campaign have good without threatening, and I suspect his next victory is just around the corner. The inside draw puts one hoof on the till, and the 3kg apprentice claim should give his key rivals sleepless nights leading into Wednesday’s assignment. His camp are flying at present, and the early money trail tells a significant story. He will figure in the finish with even luck in transit.
Magarten resumes after producing a string of tidy jump-outs. The Maurice gelding is a fresh specialist, and he looks incredibly well placed in this company. The perfect inside draw puts him into the mix, and the six-furlong trip is the perfecting starting point for his campaign. His double-figure quote disappeared faster than last week’s pay, and he maps to receive the run of the race throughout. He tends to find one or two better at the pointy end of an event.
Octrain is over the odds. The Swear gelding is racing better than it suggests in the bible, and he finds his ideal conditions here. The small field helps his chances, and he has been well supported at a price in most all-in markets. The key appointment Craig Williams must be respected, and I suspect he is ready to produce a peak performance for the campaign. He will have a good sight.
Suggested Bet: Let’sfacethemusic @ $3.00
Mornington Race 7
#9 Sketch
Sketch looks the best bet on a tricky and competitive mid-week program. The Brazen Beau filly was a brilliant victor two starts back at Caulfield Heath,
and she was good without winning at her latest outing in a strong form race. Barrier one is advantageous, and the apprentice claim could prove the winning difference. The Freedman camp are notching up victories for fun, and the market support has been significant early doors. The 54kg is a luxury, and she looks well-equipped to handle this grade. Hard to toss!
Macedon Rose is model of consistency. The Territories mare should be rock-hard fit after a lengthy campaign, and I suspect she has been trained to the minute for this assignment. The inside draw will allow her to occupy the box-seat throughout, and if she can get off dulex as they run for the doctor, I expect her to figure in the finish. The step out in trip is ideal at this stage of her campaign, and she comes in extremely well at the weights. Dismiss at your own peril.
Brung King can run a drum at a decent price. His best performance here would see him compete at the pointy end of the contest, and I suspect he is ready to return to form after a run of below-average performances. Jamie Mott is riding in career-best form, and the Henry Dwyer factor must be respected. The awkward gate and his recent winning record are among the primary concerns.
Suggested Bet: Sketch @ $4.50
