The Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara is the Saturday feature event at Eagle Farm! The Group 3 Tattersall’s Cup and W.J. Healy Stakes are also front and centre on a cracking winter program. Around the grounds, Rosehill Gardens host the Listed W.J. McKell Cup, while in Melbourne punters will be flocking to the heath for a tricky and competitive card.
Eagle Farm Race 6
#3 Mare Of Mt Buller
Mare of Mt Buller is super honest. The Dundeel mare has caught the eyes of punters late at her previous two outings, and I suspect she is ready to explode on Saturday. The rising five-year-old will appreciate the significant drop in class, and the longer journey plays into her favour. The Chris Waller and James McDonald combination will attract further market support, and the early money trail should fill her supporters with plenty of confidence. Hard to toss!
Quietness was good late first-up from a spell at Randwick. The Bated Breath mare impressed on her Australian debut, and I suspect she is ready to make a statement this campaign for her new trainer. The longer trip is in her wheelhouse, and her best performance here could be a times and margins job. I would prefer to support her case over further and deeper into her spell.
Suggested Bet: Mare Of Mt Buller @ $3.50
Eagle Farm Race 7
#11 Chica Mojito
Chica Mojito can run a drum at a decent price. The Zacinto mare rarely runs a poor race, and she looks extremely well placed in this company on Saturday. Both performances this campaign have been teasing, and her record at the trip must be respected. From the perfect inside draw, she can receive the run of the race, and if she sees, she can get off the dulex as heads turn for home, she can figure in the finish. Her recent winning record is the primary concern.
The Inflictor will start race favourite after a consistent preparation to date. His recent form reads incredibly well for this event, and his performance in the Group 1 Stradbroke was a beauty. The 54.5kg puts one hoof on the till and meets easier opposition on Saturday. He simply doesn’t know how to put in a poor performance, and I expect his quote will continue to shorten before the barriers open. Jumping from the carpark makes his assignment a tricky one!
Suggested Bet: Chica Mojito @ $14.00
#5 Firestorm
Firestorm is racing well at present. All runs this preparation have been first-class, and she has an opportunity to taste Group 1 glory on Saturday. The Satono Aladdin mare motors over the seven-furlongs, and I expect her each way quote to disappear before the jump. The progressive four-year-old looks well placed under the weight scale, and I suspect she is ready produce a peak performance for the campaign. If she can stay in touch with the peloton during the race’s middle stages, I expect her to prove too strong late.
Floozie is flying! The Zoustar mare is progressive and hasn’t put a hoof wrong since changing camps. Her record at Eagle Farm is perfect, and with even luck in transit, I expect her to fight out the finish. Her versatility is exceptional and well beyond her age and race day experience, and the flood of early money indicates another bold and forward showing. Hardest assignment to date!
Suggested Bet: Firestorm @ $4.20
Eagle Farm Race 9
#1 Hidden Wealth
Hidden Wealth looked the winner at his latest outing. The Better Than Ready gelding led his rivals a merry dance throughout, and it took the Group 1 competitive Front Page to grab him in the shadows. The rising six-year-old strips fitter as a result of recent racing, and he meets easier opposition on Saturday. His record at the trip must be respected, and he is ideally drawn in a middle gate. Cross your fingers and toes during the final furlong if you have a live ticket with his name on it. Dismiss at your own peril!
General Salute resumes with an air of expectation. The Russian Revolution gelding burns the turf fresh, and he finds a winnable first-up assignment. A recent Randwick barrier trial was ominous, and the 1200m is ideal at this stage of his campaign. The lightly raced four-year-old has plenty of upside and has been heavily supported in most all-in markets. Watch for the big boy late!
Suggested Bet: Hidden Wealth @ $6.00
Rosehill Gardens Race 7
#8 Casual Connection
Casual Connection will have plenty of supporters after an ultra-consistent campaign to date. The Complacent gelding is a 2400m specialist, and the versatile six-year-old handles all track conditions. The 2kg apprentice claim puts him into all winning conversations, and I suspect he has the fitness edge on the majority of his rivals after a lengthy and fruitful campaign. The awkward barrier draw is the primary concern.
Hezashocka is the class runner of the field. The Shocking gelding will appreciate the significant drop-in class, and the 2kg apprentice claim could prove decisive. Any rain or give in the track would improve his chances significantly, and he looks incredibly well placed in this company. His racing pattern and style will always require an element of good fortune.
Suggested Bet: Headley Grange @ $4.00
Caulfield Race 8
#4 Earlswood
Earlswood is ready to win. Both performances this campaign have been rock-solid, and I suspect he is ready to explode third-up from a spell on Saturday. The step out to 2000m is advantageous at this stage of his preparation, and the flood of early money indicates another bold and forward showing. The form around the talented Saban gelding reads incredibly well for this event, and he finally gets on top of the ground. His recent winning record is the primary concern.
Dublin Journal is a model of consistency. The Teofilo gelding produced a cracking victory two starts ago, and he savaged the line from a different suburb at his latest outing. Barrier one will allow him to occupy the box seat throughout, and if he can get off the dulex as they run for the judge, he can figure in the finish. A must for all broader multiples and exotics.
Suggested Bet: Earlswood @ $4.40
