Warwick Farm Race 4

#5 Sounds Unusual

Sounds Unusual is knocking on the door. Both runs this campaign have been full of merit, and I suspect he is ready to explode third-up from a spell. The mile suits, and the current track conditions play into his favour. The James McDonald and Chris Waller factor will attract plenty of late market support, and there has been a flood of early money for the big boy since markets were finalised. His racing pattern and style always requires an element of good fortune.

Piraeus will have plenty of supporters after producing a solid and consistent campaign to date. The Merchant Navy gelding finds a winnable assignment here, and he meets easier opposition. His record at the distance must be respected, and I suspect he has the fitness edge on the majority of his rivals. The quick backup looks ominous, and he is ideally drawn in barrier five. He tends to find one or two better at the pointy end of a contest.

Canara is running better than it suggests in the bible. The I Am Invincible filly is coming off a forgive run at her latest outing, and I suspect she will appreciate the significant drop in class on Wednesday. The step out to the mile will suit her campaign at this stage, and she has been heavily supported in most all-in markets. Her versatility is exceptional for her age and race day experience, and if the favourite gets too far out of his ground, she can capitalise. Her overall winning record is the primary concern.

Suggested Bet: Sounds Unusual @ $2.50

Warwick Farm RACE 6

#8 Manaajem

Manaajem resumes with an air of expectation. The Tassort filly showed plenty of potential in her debit campaign, and I suspect she has more upside than the majority of her rivals. Her recent barrier trials have been first-class, and her perfect inside draw should give her key rivals sleepless nights leading into Wednesday’s event. The Tom Berry and Peter Snowden combination must be respected, and I suspect it will pay dividends to follow her moving forward regardless of the result of this particular event. Take on trust!

Night Sky looks talented. Both career starts have been full of merit, and she looks well placed in this company. From the wide gate, she will roll forward and pilot the field, and if she can pinch a margin as they swing for home, she may prove hard to run down. Her double-figure quote has been nibbled at, and I expect her to jump second favourite. I would prefer to support her case on top of the ground.

The Unique Star looks progressive. The Shalaa gelding has made an impressive start to his career on the country and provincial circuits, and he deserves his shot at this level on Wednesday. He strips fitter after his recent heroics at the Sapphire Coast, and the sting out of the tack gives him a massive leg up. If he can stay in touch during the race’s middle stages, he can make his presence felt late. Over the odds.

Suggested Bet: Manaajem @ $3.10

sandown Race 4

#9 Tuscaloosa Gem

Tuscaloosa Gem looks the good thing of the day on a very competitive and tricky mid-week program. The Alabama Express filly was an impressive last-start winner at Pakenham, and the form out of the race has already been franked. Jordan Childs already has a winning association with the progressive three-year-old, and the Grahame Begg camp are currently training winners for fun. The perfect inside draw puts one hoof on the till, and there has been an avalanche of money for the short-priced commodity. Hard to toss!

Silent Shares was a dominant winner at Cranbourne at her latest outing. The Overshare Filly produced a devastating turn of foot late, and she caught the eyes of the trackside punters. The step out in trip is advantageous at this stage of her campaign, and I suspect she will receive the necessary speed up front to savage the line late. Her racing pattern and style will always require an element of good fortune.

Chilli Reaper is over the odds. The Pariah filly has looked good in her career starts to date, and she comes to town up and about after breaking her maiden. The enigmatic three-year-old has been supported at cricket-score odds, and a bold showing her wouldn’t surprise. The wide alley and the significant class rise are among the primary concerns.

Suggested Bet: Tuscaloosa Gem @ $3.30

sandown Race 7

#3 Grid Girl

Grid girl is a model of consistency. The Time Test Mare was good without winning at her latest outing, and she meets easier opposition. The 2kg apprentice claim could prove a training master stroke, and the perfect inside draw puts her into all winning conversations. Her recent winning record and the grandstand weight are among the primary concerns.

The Western Front resumes after producing a string of impressive jump-outs. The War Decree gelding has shown promise early doors, and I suspect he has more progression and upside than his rivals. The middle gate is ideal for the talented four-year-old, and if he presented with his run at the right time, he will loom to win. Acid test!

Deadly Press can run a drum at a decent price. The Press Statement gelding put his rivals to the sword a long way from home at Kilmore, and he comes to town up on his toes with his chest pushed. The inside draw will allow the Nick Ryan-trained galloper to sit closer in the run, and if the gaps appear as they run for the doctor, he can get the cash in the shadows. Over the odds.

Suggested Bet: Grid Girl @ $6.00
