Day 3 of the Adelaide autumn carnival is the racing highlight this Saturday. The Group 1 $1,000,000 Goodwood is the main course on a sensational menu, featuring a host of Group and Listed events. In the Sunshine State, the Group 2 Hollindale Stakes will have the punters flocking to the Gold Coast, while the Gosford Cup meeting will have the Central Coast pumping in New South Wales.
Morphettville Race 6
#3 Chicago Storm
Chicago Storm is ready to peak. Both runs in this campaign have been ominous, and the mile looks ideal at this stage of his campaign. The Trust In A Gust gelding is well placed in this company, and the current track conditions will suit the big boy to a tee. From barrier eight, he will drift back and find his hooves, and if he doesn’t get too far out of his ground during the race’s middle stages, he will loom to win. Great each way value!
Air Assault strips fitter after producing three honest performances this campaign. The Justify gelding loves the mile, and I suspect he has the fitness edge on the majority of his rivals. From the awkward gate, he will roll forward and pilot the field, and if he is allowed to control the tempo throughout, the fat lady may be in full voice before they enter the final furlong. Too classy to dismiss.
Suggested Bet: Chicago Storm @ $7.00
Morphettville Race 7
#1 See You In Heaven
See You In Heaven is coming off a forgive run. The talented Divine Prophet mare missed the kicked hopelessly fresh and lost any genuine chance of winning the Group 1 event inside the opening furlong. Her second-up record must be respected, and I suspect she will receive the run of the race from a perfect inside draw. If the inform Jake Toeroek angles her into clear air as the whips are cracking, I expect her to make her presence felt in the shadows, over the odds.
New York Lustre is winning for fun at present. The Manhattan Rain mare has recorded five victories on the bounce, and she can continue her winning ways with even luck in transit. The step out in trip is advantageous, and the inside draw should give her key rivals sleepless nights leading into Saturday’s event. She has been well supported in early betting, and I expect her quote to shorten significantly before the barriers open. The class rise is the primary concern.
Suggested Bet: See You In Heaven @ $13.00
#7 Giga Kick
Giga Kick resumes with an air of expectation. The former Everest champion has trialled exceptionally well leading into his first-up assignment, and the flood of early money indicates a bold, fresh performance. The world-class Scissor Kick gelding has been well and truly missed by the handicapper, and I suspect he may jump in the red. His best performance here could be a times and margin job, and it may pay healthy dividends to follow him during the upcoming Brisbane winter carnival. Hard to toss!
Reserve Bank is flying at present. The Capitalist colt has been a dominant winner at his latest two outings, and he deserves his shot at this level on Saturday. The progressive three-year-old has upside for days, and his versatility is well beyond his age and racing experience. If he can find a spot in the running-line from the tricky alley, I expect him to figure in the finish. Too much upside to dismiss.
Suggested Bet: Giga Kick @ $2.00
Gold Coast Race 7
#4 Fawkner Park
Fawkner Park is knocking on the door. All runs this preparation have been full of merit, and the form around him is world-class. The drop back to 1800m is advantageous, and he looks well placed under the weight-for-age scale. His performances earlier in the campaign are still fresh in the memory bank, and he seems to find another gear north of the border. If he can overcome the carpark draw, I expect him to make his presence felt during the pointy end of the contest.
Buckaroo will have plenty of supporters after producing two ominous performances to start his preparation. The Fastnet Rock gelding strips fitter after his recent outings, and I suspect he is ready to explode third-up from a spell. The drop-in class puts him into all winning conversations, and I suspect the money will come late for the one-time Caulfield and Melbourne Cup favourite. His recent winning record is the primary concern.
Suggested Bet: Fawkner Park @ $8.50
Gosford Race 7
#3 Hezashocka
Hezashocka is ready to win! The Shocking gelding is performing better than it suggests in the bible, and I suspect this event has been a long-range target from the astute camp. The step out in trip is favourable, and he should be rock-hard fit after a lengthy preparation. The drop-in class puts him into winning calculations, and I expect him to start as the race favourite as a result of strong early money. Hard to toss!
New Endeavour will have supporters after an honest campaign to date. He has been heavily backed all preparation, and he is ready to repay the punters who have stuck solid with him. Barrier three will allow him to roll forward and pilot the field, and if he can cheat the clock throughout, I expect him to fight out the finish. He tends to find one or two better at the pointy end of a contest.
Suggested Bet: Hezashocka @ $4.80
Caulfield Race 8
#8 War Machine
War Machine was beaten a pimple first-up at Mornington. The form out of the race has already stood up, and he looks well placed in this company. The step out in trip is advantageous, and his second-up record must be respected. He strips fitter as a result of his recent outing, and I suspect the camp will be out for redemption. His racing pattern and style will always require an element of good fortune.
Elouyou will start race favourite after putting back-to-back victories together in impressive fashion. The 53kg is a luxury, and he looks to have more progression and upside then the majority of his rivals. The So You Think gelding deserves his shot at this level, and the tsunami of early money indicates another forward and prominent showing. The class rise is his biggest challenge!
Suggested Bet: War Machine @ $3.80
