Warwick Farm and Caulfield Heath are the features meetings this Wednesday. With competitive racing expected at both venues, find out below who our experts are expecting to take home the chocolates.
Warwick Farm Race 6
#10 Sounds Unusual
Sounds Unusual is over the odds. The Unusual Suspect gelding has made an impressive start to his racing career, and I suspect he is ready to strike first-up from a spell. The Chris Waller factor must be respected, and the key appointment of Nash Rawilier speaks volumes. Hard to toss at a decent double-figure quote!
Autumnmation is racing well without winning. The Autumn Sun mare is a model of consistency, and she looks well placed in this company. The step out to the mile is advantageous, and I suspect she has the fitness edge on the majority of her rivals. Her racing pattern and style will always require an element of good fortune.
Dame Commander will have supporters after catching the eyes of punters on resumption at Randwick. The So You Think filly is undefeated second-up and has been heavily supported in early betting. She will roll forward from a perfect inside draw, and if she can control the clock throughout, she may prove hard to run down. This is her toughest test to date.
Suggested Bet: Sounds Unusual @ $10.00
Warwick Farm RACE 7
#6 My Last Hooray
My Last Hooray can run a big race at cricket score odds. The Harry Angel gelding id ready to peak, and all runs this preparation have been ominous. He finds his pet distance on Wednesday, and the 3kg apprentice claim puts him into all winning conversations. From the carpark draw he will drift back and find his hooves, and if he can stay in touch with the leaders during the middle stages of the race, he can loom to win late. Acid test!
Secure will start race favourite after producing a stunning victory at Canterbury. The Snitzel gelding put his rivals to the sword a long way from home, and it was an easy watch for his supporters. His strips fitter after his recent heroics, and I suspect his quote will shorten further before the barriers open. The significant class rise is the primary concern.
Pink Shalala is flying at present. The Shalaa gelding was an impressive last-start winner, and the form around him has stood up time and again. The drop in distance could prove a training masterstroke, and he should be rock-hard fit after a lengthy and fruitful campaign. If he is allowed to dictate the tempo on top of the speed throughout, he will figure in the finish. Can’t dismiss.
Suggested Bet: My Last Hooray @ $31.00
Caulfield Heath Race 5
#2 Changing Colours
Changing Colours looks the best bet on a tricky and competitive program. The Autumn Sun mare has produced two strong performances this campaign, and she looks ready to peak third-up from a spell on Wednesday. Her effort at Flemington is still fresh in the memory bank, and the mile looks perfect at this stage of her campaign. Ready to win!
Luvya Mumma is racing well at present. The Toronado filly deserves her shot at this level, and the inside draw puts one hoof on the till. Her record at the distance must be respected, and her double figure quote has been nibbled at since acceptances. The three-year-old is versatile, and I suspect she has plenty of improvement and upside to come for the current spell. Over the odds!
Charming Deel is too consistent to pot. The Dundeel mare is always thereabouts, and she looks well placed in this company. The 1600m is in her wheelhouse, and I suspect she will appreciate the significant drop in class. The stable are training winners for fun at present, and I suspect she will get the last shot at the peloton as they run for the doctor. I am unsure the tight turning track will suit her racing pattern and style.
Suggested Bet: Changing Colours @ $2.45
Caulfield Heath Race 7
#1 Blue Stratum
Blue Stratum is coming off a forgive run at Echuca. Nothing went right for the Blue Point gelding, and I suspect it may pay dividends to forget the classy three-year-old went around. The big boys look more suited at this level, and the 3kg apprentice claim could prove the winning difference. His perfect inside draw should give his rivals sleepless nights leading into Wednesday’s event, and the current track conditions will suit him to a tee. He represents great each way value.
Fitzpatrick resumes with an air of expectation. His recent barrier trials have been first-class, and I suspect he will be cherry ripe for a first-up tilt. The Snitzel gelding performs well fresh, and his recent record at the distance puts him in the mix. The Mark Zahra factor will play a role at the point end, and he has been absolutely crunched in most all-in markets. Take on trust.
Biancelli has set the world on fire to date. The undefeated Cosmic Force filly deserves the short quote next to her name, and the 1000m looks ideal fresh. Her jumpouts have been rock-solid, and I suspect she is in for a successful and exciting campaign. I’d prefer to support her case deeper into her preparation. Follow her moving forward!
Suggested Bet: Blue Stratum @ $9.50
