Wyong and Sandown Hillside are the feature meetings this Wednesday afternoon. With a Golden Slipper on our doorstep and the Championships just around the corner, autumn racing has never looked so good! Find out below who our experts are tipping to take home the mid-week chocolates.
WYONG Race 6
#1 Imperial Force
Imperial Force was a brilliant first-up winner at Rosehill. The Snitzel colt strips fitter after his fresh heroics, and he looks well placed in this company. He traditionally performs well second-up, and I suspect the tight turning track will suit his racing pattern and style. Hard to toss!
Struck Gold is over the odds. The Castledale gelding motors fresh, and the 3kg apprentice claim brings him into all winning conversations. Two recent barrier trials caught the eyes of punters, and he is ideally drawn in a middle gate. He has been specked at a price, and the current track conditions play into his favour. Too consistent to pot!
Tuned resumes with an air of expectation. The lightly raced Zoustar colt has been ultra-impressive during the early stages of his career, and I expect him to go through his grades successfully during the coming months. An inside draw will allow him a soft trip in-transit, and his camp are training winners for fun at present. Will be thereabouts.
Suggested Bet: Imperial Force @ $2.60
WYONG RACE 7
#9 Sigiriya Rock
Sigiriya Rock is a model of consistency. The Alabama Express gelding was brilliant without winning at Flemington at his latest outing, and he looks extremely well placed against easier opposition. A recent Rosehill jump-out will have him cherry ripe for this event, and his best performance here could be fences and panels better than his rivals. A genuine talent with plenty of upside and progression.
Little Beginnings is knocking on the door. The Shamus Award gelding has been racing well without winning, and his performance in the Mudgee Cup was a beauty. The significant drop in grade is advantageous, and I suspect he has the fitness edge on the majority of his rivals after a lengthy campaign. He tends to find one or two better at the pointy end of the contest.
Edited By was ok without threatening fresh. The Written By gelding is expected to improve second-up with a run under his belt, and the step-out in trip looks ideal at this stage of his preparation. The 2kg apprentice claim puts him into winning calculations, and the key appointment of the inform Molly Bourke could prove the winning difference. Take on trust.
Suggested Bet: Sigiriya Rock @ $4.00
Sandown Hillside Race 6
#3 In Her Eyes
In Her Eyes can run a drum at cricket score odds. The Star Witness filly savaged the line first-up at Moonee Valley, and the step-out trip looks ideal at this stage of her preparation. The 2kg apprentice claim strengths her chances, and she looks well placed at the Benchmark 70 level. From barrier six, she drifts back and finds her hooves, and if she stays in touch with the peloton throughout, she can loom to win late. Over the odds!
Kalkallo is ready to win. Both runs this campaign have been good without threatening, and I suspect he is prepared to explode third-up from a spell on Wednesday. The Alabama Express gelding has been smashed in betting since acceptances, and I expect the Ciaron Maher and Mark Zahra combination to attract further market support. His racing pattern and style will always require an element of good fortune.
Excelindeed will start race favourite after a solid campaign to date. The Exceed And Excel gelding is rock-hard fit, and he is more than ready for the step out in trip. The current track conditions will suit, and I suspect he will pilot the field with a clean break from the awkward barrier. His fate may be decided during the early stages of the race.
Suggested Bet: In Her Eyes @ $51.00
Sandown Hillside Race 7
#4 Shiny New Deel
Shiny New Deel is racing well at present. The Dundeel gelding was a brilliant Flemington winner several starts back, and he has hardly put a hoof wrong all preparation. The 3kg apprentice claim is advantageous, and the drop back in trip could prove a training masterstroke. He is a winner at Sandown previously, and he handles all track conditions. The carpark draw is the primary concern.
Khor can run well at a decent quote. The Savabeel gelding is ready to produce a peak run for the campaign, and he finds his pet distance on Wednesday. He savaged the line at his latest outing, and the booking of the superstar Jamie Melham should give his rivals sleepless nights leading into the event. His recent winning record is the biggest deterrent.
Zoom resumes after a lengthy break. The Adaay gelding looks talented, and his best form here could blow away his rivals late. The perfect inside draw should ensure a soft run throughout, and the 2kg apprentice claim throws his hat amongst the pigeons. The Ciaron Maher factor must be respected, and I suspect he will be savaging the line late. I would prefer to promote him over further and deeper into his preparation.
Suggested Bet: Shiny New Deel @ $4.60
