Wyong and Sandown Hillside are front and centre this Wednesday afternoon. With competitive Benchmark racing and healthy prizemoney on offer, mid-week racing has never looked so good!

WYONG Race 6

#3 Invade And Conquer

Invade And Conquer was good without winning first-up at Kembla Grange. The Invader gelding strips fitter after his recent outing, and the step out in trip looks ideal at this stage of his campaign. I suspect he will lead the field a merry dance throughout, and he has been confidentially backed since acceptances. The carpark draw is the primary concern.

Prince Of Sorts is coming off a forgive run at Newcastle. The Tassort gelding is rock-hard fit after a lengthy and fruitful preparation, and the 2kg apprentice claim puts one hoof on the till. From the middle gate he will push forward and look for a prominent spot with some cover, and if he is presented with his run at the right, he can figure in the finish. Acid test!

Invasive Dreams was good without threatening at her latest outing. The Invader mare is racing in great spirit and deserves her shot at this level. From the wide gate she will drift back and find her hooves, and if she can stay in touch with the peloton throughout, she can figure in the finish. Her racing pattern and style will always require an element of good fortune.

Suggested Bet: Invade And Conquer @ $7.50

WYONG RACE 7

#2 Gogmagog

Gogmagog is flying at present. The Zoustar gelding is chasing a hatrick of victories and looks extremely well-placed in this company. The 2kg apprentice claim is advantageous, and his record at the track and distance must be respected. The flood of early money indicates another bold showing, and I suspect he has the fitness edge on the majority of his rivals. Hard to toss!

Oakfield Badger is producing a consistent preparation to date. The Exceed And Excel was good without winning at Newcastle in a hot form race, and he will appreciate the significant drop-in class on Wednesday. A recent jump-out looked ominous, and I suspect he will have many supporters in current form. The grandstand weight is his biggest obstacle.

Never Fails resumes after a string of impressive barrier trials. The 3kg apprentice claim brings him into winning calculations, and he is drawn to get a soft trip throughout. The Hellbent gelding traditionally motors fresh, and the 1000m looks ideal after a long break. I’d prefer to promote him deeper into his campaign.

Suggested Bet: Gogmagog @ $16.00

Sandown Hillside Race 6

#2 Groundrush

Groundrush resumes with an air of expectation. The Trapeze Artist gelding has caught the eyes of punters recently at the jumpouts, and I suspect he will be fully wound up for a first-up tilt on Wednesday. The consistent four-year-old doesn’t know how to run a bad race, and he is always thereabouts. If he can overcome the carpark during the race’s early stages, he is clearly the one to beat!

Half Yours resumes for the McEvoy camp. The St Jean gelding is building an impressive career record early doors, and I suspect he is about to produce an enviable campaign for his new trainer. The flood of early money speaks volumes, and his best performance here could be fences and panels better than his opposition. The 1300m is the primary concern.

Varane was impressive without winning fresh at Warrnambool. The Vadamos gelding savaged the line late, and he put the writing on the wall for big autumn preparation. The 3kg apprentice claim strengthens his case, and the perfect inside draw should give his rivals sleepless nights leading into the event. He needs to put another win on the board!

Suggested Bet: Groundrush @ $10.00

Sandown Hillside Race 7

#3 Freight Train

Freight Train looks the best bet on a tricky program of racing. The Shamus Award gelding flys fresh, and the key appointment of the inform Blake Shinn could prove the winning difference. His record at the trip is near perfect, and he ideally drawn in barrier four. If the big boy sees clear air as they run for the doctor, I expect him to prove too strong for his rivals.

Typhoon Harmony is racing well at present. The Written Tycoon gelding performed well in a hot form race in the city of churches, and I suspect he will appreciate the significant drop in grade on Wednesday. His record at the mile is outrageous, and the 3kg apprentice claim puts him in the mix. The big boy is ready to peak, and the talented Tianni Chapman has a great association with the rising nine-year-old. A must for all broader multiples and exotics.

Muktamil looked good in a recent Cranbourne trial win. The Sea The Stars gelding always performs well fresh, and he finds a very winnable assignment here. Barrier five provides Jamie Mott a menagerie of options in the run, and Sandown suits his racing pattern and style to a tee. Too classy and consistent to pot!

Suggested Bet: Freight Train @ $3.20
