Rosehill Gardens and Cranbourne are the feature meetings this Wednesday. With spring racing in full swing, and with the two cups and a plate fast approaching, find out who our experts are expecting to take home the cash!
Rosehill Gardens Race 6
#8 Piercing Arrow
Piercing Arrow was good without winning fresh at Randwick. The I Am Invincible gelding will eat up the longer trip, and he traditionally performs well second-up from a spell. From barrier eight, the progressive five-year-old will ping the lids and pilot the field, and if he can control the clock throughout, he may prove hard to run down. He looks great each-way value.
Just Party will start race favourite after producing a gutsy effort in the Ming Dynasty at his latest outing. The Justify colt will appreciate the significant drop-in class, and I suspect he is ready to peak third up. The inside draw looks ominous, and the current track conditions play into his favour.
True To Form is racing well at present. The War Front gelding hasn’t put a foot wrong all campaign, and the 3kg apprentice claim puts one hoof on the till. His record at the distance must be respected, and his best form reads extremely well for this event. In the mix.
Suggested Bet: Piercing Arrow @ $8.00
Rosehill Gardens RACE 7
#6 Hellbent On You
Hellbent On You is over the odds. The Hellbent mare performed extremely well in a hot form race fresh, and she looks well placed in this company. She strips fitter after her first-up effort, and the 1300m is in her wheelhouse. The inside draw is advantageous, and with even luck in transit, I expect her to figure in the finish.
Extremely Hardys will have supporters after producing a stunning victory on debut. The progressive Extreme Choice filly resumes with an air of expectation, and she has trialled extremely well leading into her first-up assignment. The awkward barrier and step up in class are among the primary concerns.
Waterville is knocking on the door. All runs this preparation have been good without winning, and she finds a very suitable race on Wednesday. The Menari filly has had a freshen up since her latest outing, and her recent trials have been ultra-impressive. Barrier one puts her into all winning conversations, and has been well supported since markets opened. She will be thereabouts.
Suggested Bet: Hellbent On You @ $20.00
Cranbourne Race 6
#1 Red Galaxy
Red Galaxy resumes after a solid debut campaign. The Stratum Star gelding looks to have plenty of upside, and his trials leading into this event have been bombproof. His opening quote has shortened significantly since acceptances, and I suspect the combination of Craig Williams and Greg Eurell will attract further market support. If the big boy is fully wound up for his first-up assignment, I expect him to prove too strong late.
Blazing Harry looked the real deal in his debut preparation. The Harry Angel gelding resumes after an enforced layoff, and if he is back to his best, he could win this event in a canter. A recent jump out looked ominous, and there has been a flood of early money. The throat issue and long break in the paddock are among the primary concerns.
Trevenson is a model of consistency. The Hellbent gelding looked the winner at his latest outing, and I suspect he will take benefit from his agonising miss. The Nick Ryan trained four-year-old will roll forward and pilot the field from barrier two, and if he is left to his own devices on top of the speed, he can upset his more fancied rivals.
Suggested Bet: Red Galaxy @ $3.60
Cranbourne Race 8
#3 Gangitano
Gangitano made an impressive return to racing at Sale. The Written By gelding showed glimpses of his best form, and I suspect he is in for a successful and fruitful spring preparation. The big boy has competed in some serious races during the early stages of his career, and the drop to Benchmark 64 looks ideal. His record second-up is rock-solid, and he finds his pet distance on Wednesday. Hard to toss.
Highland Harley is chasing a hatrick of victories. I suspect the Highland Reel gelding has the fitness edge on the majority of his rivals, and the 2kg apprentice claim could prove the winning difference. Barrier one is advantageous, and the step out in trip is logical at this stage of his campaign. The class rise is the primary concern.
War Drama is flying at present. The War Decree gelding is building the picket fence next his name, and he deserves his shot at this level. The enigmatic four-year-old will drift back from the awkward gate, and if he can find cover in-transit, I expect him to make his presence felt late. Acid test.
Suggested Bet: Gangitano @ $5.00
