Canterbury and Sandown are the feature meetings this Wednesday. With some promising horses resuming and spring in the air, find out who our experts expect to take home the cash!

Canterbury Race 5

#9 Utopian Wine

Utopian Wine is knocking on the door. The Pierro mare has performed well all preparation without winning, and she finds her right race on Wednesday. The talented four-year-old looks dangerous jumping from an inside draw, and the step out in distance looks ideal. Her recent winning record is the primary concern.

The Englishman will start race favourite after producing a consistent campaign to date. The Tavistock gelding is coming off a string of narrow losses, and he looks well-placed in this company. The current track conditions will suit, and I expect the big boy will be charging home late.  He tends to find one or two better on race day.

Luconi has started his career on the right foot. The Nicconi gelding deserves his shot at this level, and I suspect he has plenty of improvement to come for the campaign. From a middle gate, he will roll forward and pilot the field, and if he can find another gear as they turn for home, he may prove hard to run down. In the mix.

Suggested Bet: Utopian Wine @ $10.00

Canterbury RACE 7

#10 It's A Knockout

It’s A Knockout is a very talented and progressive Dundeel mare. She was a brilliant winner on debut before losing no admirers in defeat second-up. The 1550m looks ideal at this stage of her campaign, and I suspect the tight-turning Canterbury circuit will suit her to a tee! She has drawn exceptionally well, and I expect her to figure in the finish.

High Dandy was a brilliant first-up winner at Hawkesbury. The Ace High entire put his rivals to the sword a long from home, and I suspect he is in for a fruitful spring campaign. His second-up record must be respected, and he has been well-supported since the markets opened. If he can find the bunny early, he may greet the judge first.

Noble Conqueror is ultra-consistent. The Churchill gelding doesn’t know how to run a bad race and looks well-placed in this company. His best form reads well for this event, and he comes in well at the weights despite the significant drop-in class. The big boy strips fitter, and with even luck in transit, he should get his chance to threaten. He needs to notch up another victory.

Suggested Bet: It’s A Knockout @ $4.00

Sandown Race 6

#9 Belle Inferno

Belle Inferno turned heads at a recent jump-out. The All Too Hard mare has plenty of ability and resumes with an air of expectation. The 1300m is ideal fresh, and this event looks a perfecting starting point for her spring preparation. Barrier one will allow her a soft trip in transit, and if she doesn’t get too far out of her ground during the race’s early stages, she can make her presence felt late. Penny needs to drop!

Zloties will start race favourite after romping in fresh at Geelong. The Snitzel mare is lightly raced for a five-year year and looks poised to strike in her first city assignment. She strips fitter after her recent heroics, and there has been an avalanche of money for her since acceptances. I would prefer to see another solid performance under her belt before pushing the chips in. Happy to take her on at the price.

La Petite Angele resumes after a lengthy lay-off. The Harry Angel mare hasn’t been sighted for twelve months, and there are no recent public barrier trials or jumpouts to report on. Her debut campaign was full of merit, and her best performance here would have her feature in the finish. The 3kg apprentice claim is advantageous, and she will bowl along up front, setting a decent clip throughout. Take on trust.

Suggested Bet: Belle Inferno @ $5.00

Sandown Race 7

#9 Big Me

Big Me looks the good thing of the day! The Your Song gelding was good in a hot form race at Moonee Valley, and his run prior at Flemington was full of merit. He looks well-placed meeting easier opposition and has been absolutely smashed in early betting. I suspect he has been trained to explode third-up from a spell, and I am confident he will pilot the field with a clean break. Hard to toss!

Lazy Susan is a first-up specialist. The Capitalist mare looks dangerous jumping from a perfect inside barrier, and her record at the trip must be respected. The enigmatic five-year-old doesn’t know how to run poorly, and if the favourite takes some short steps inside the last furlong, she can capitalise late. Major player.

Go To Hollywood is over the odds. The Alpine Eagle gelding is rock-hard fit after a lengthy campaign, and the drop back in trip could prove a training masterstroke. The big boy will slide back and watch the race unfold from the middle gate, and if can still produce a turn of foot at this stage of the preparation, he can figure late. A must for broader multiples and exotics.

Suggested Bet: Big Me @ $2.05
