Kensington and Sandown Lakeside are the feature meetings this Wednesday. With the current racing season nearing the final furlong, July racing has never looked so good!
Kensington Race 5
#2 Star Impact
Star Impact was ultra-impressive when winning at Newcastle at her latest outing. The versatile Mikki Isle mare handles all conditions and looks well placed in this company. From barrier three, she will roll forward and pilot the field; if she is left to her own devices on top of the speed, she may find it hard to run down.
Automation is chasing a hattrick of victories. The Autumn Sun filly could be the real deal, and I suspect she has more upside than the majority of her rivals. She looks dangerous jumping from an inside draw, and she has been smashed since markets opened. The length of her campaign and the skinny odds that are on offer, are among the deterrents.
Nana’s Wish deserves another chance. The Belardo mare has been racing well without threatening, and I suspect she has found a winnable assignment on Wednesday. The 3kg apprentice claim brings her into all winning conversations, and the current track conditions play into her favour.
Suggested Bet: Star Impact @ $7.50
Kensington RACE 7
#5 Jack Duggan
Jack Duggan looks poised to strike second-up from a spell. His fresh run was better than it reads in the bible, and I suspect he has been set to the minute for this event. The rising seven-year-old can camp on the leaders back from a perfect inside draw, and if he gets off the dulex before the whips are cracking, I expect him to figure in the finish.
Spitfire must be respected after a dominant last-start victory at Albury. The Pierro gelding put his rivals to the sword a long way from home, and I suspect he will continue to raise the bar for the rest of his winter preparation. From the middle gate, he will sit one out in the running line, and with even luck in transit, he will make his presence felt late.
Alcabeel made the perfect start to his career at Newcastle. The Savabeel gelding looks like a promising type, and he has been well-supported since markets opened. The step out in distance is advantageous and may pay dividends to follow the big boy moving forward. The class rise is the primary concern.
Suggested Bet: Jack Duggan @ $14.00
Sandown Lakeside Race 6
#11 Shes A Con
Shes A Con is ready to score! All runs this preparation have been good without winning, and I suspect the Contributer mare is ready to produce a peak performance on Wednesday. The 2100m won’t pose any problems, and I suspect she has the fitness edge on the majority of her rivals. The awkward barrier is her biggest obstacle.
Blushing Tycoon is knocking on the door! The Written Tycoon gelding has been thereabouts all campaign, and I suspect his next victory is just around the corner. The significant drop-in class is advantageous, and he has been crying out for the longer trip all preparation. His recent winning record is the primary concern.
Rebadge can run a sneaky race at double-figure odds. The Galileo gelding will roll forward and give a good sight, and if he can cheat the clock throughout, he may upset his more fancied rivals. His ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory is starting to become an issue.
Suggested Bet: Shes A Con @ $5.00
Sandown Lakeside Race 7
#5 Hanau
Hanau comes to Victoria in search of a better racing conditions. The enigmatic Snitzel gelding will start race favourite, and his best Sydney form reads exceptionally well for this event. He finds his pet distance on Wednesday, and the avalanche of early money tells me he is cherry-ripe for Wednesday’s assignment. It’s hard to toss!
Layeruponlayer will have supporters after an impressive campaign to date. The Stratum Star gelding narrowly missed out on a hatrick of victories at his latest outing, and he looks well placed to bounce back meeting similar opposition. The bold front runner will give a good sight, and if the favourite has an off day or faces traffic issues, I suspect he will be Johnny on the spot!
Come Along Jeffrey can run a drum at cricket-score odds. The Super One gelding will lead is rivals a merry dance, and he looks placed at Benchmark 70 level. The rising seven-year-old is tough as old boots, and I suspect he will look the likely winner as they run for the doctor. If you have live ticket with his name on it, cross your fingers and toes during the final furlong. Not the worst!
Suggested Bet: Hanau @ $2.70
