AFL Tips & Previews, Round 11

BetDeluxe dives into three games across Round 11 of the AFL season, with the Cats and Giants desperate to break their losing runs.

Can the Cats snap their three-game losing streak? Or will the Giants cause an upset at GMHBA Stadium?

BetDeluxe breaks down three mouthwatering match-ups and provides best bets.

Dockers vs. Pies

24th May 8:10PM

Can Fremantle salute for the fourth time in five games and re-enter the top eight?

Justin Longmuir’s chargers bounced back into the winner’s stall last weekend with a 17-point victory against the Saints. Despite ranking sixth-last for points scored, the Dockers have successfully found ways to win and could improve their structure with the addition of Sean Darcy, should he pass a fitness test.

Passionate Pies fans will lap up the $2.05 on offer with BetDeluxe, given they’ve recaptured their best form and gone undefeated in their past five outings. Jordan De Goey’s injury woes continued with an abdomen strain, but Craig McRae will welcome the possible return of both Brodie Mihocek and Beau McCreery.

The price about Collingwood is far too good to pass up and champion midfielder, Scott Pendlebury, should lead them to another winning score against a side struggling to apply any scoreboard pressure.

TIP: Collingwood to win @ $2.05

Blues vs. Suns

25th May 1:45pm

Another crucial Round 11 clash, the injury-riddled Blues will be desperate to bank the four points and jump back into the top eight when they host the red-hot Suns at Marvel Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

It was disappointment all-round for Carlton in their most recent outing against Sydney, going down by 52 points and losing Marc Pittonet and Jacob Weitering to injury throughout the night. At this stage, Weitering is considered only a 50/50 chance as he continues to battle a corkie. The Blues have saluted when their backs have been against the wall so far this season, but no match has carried as much importance as this match-up.

The Suns will enter the game with their chests out and shoulders back following their 64-point demolition job of Geelong in Darwin. Noah Anderson (42 disposals), Sam Flanders (37) and Matt Rowell (35) have taken their games to another level under Damien Hardwick. With one of the healthiest lists in the competition, don’t underestimate the power of the Suns’ momentum.

TIP: Over +175.5 total match points @ $1.88

Cats vs. Giants

25th May 4:35pm

Who needs it more?

The Cats, who won their first seven games of the season, have slumped to third spot on the ladder following three-consecutive losses to the Dees, Power, and Suns.

However, their most recent outing brought into question Chris Scott’s player resting strategy after they lost to the Gold Coast by a record 64 points. It was a far cry from the defensive masterclass they put on just a month earlier, when they kept Brisbane to just 37 points. Star forward Jeremy Cameron will return from concussion protocols, while Sam De Koning will strengthen their back six.

As for the Giants, they’ve also lost three on the bounce after a scintillating start to the year. Despite ranking third for points scored, the Giants managed a season-low 43 in their loss to the Bulldogs and lost gun defender Jack Buckley to a calf injury. With Josh Kelly, Lachie Ash and Isaac Cumming still sidelined, it’s hard to see the Orange Tsunami causing any havoc at GMHBA Stadium.

TIP: J. Cameron first goal scorer @ $10
