Warwick Farm and Bendigo are the places to be this Wednesday. With competitive programs at both venues, mid-week racing will get your heart pumping! Find out below who our experts are expecting to take home the cash.
Warwick Farm Race 6
#4 Fleetwood
Fleetwood resumes after producing several impressive barrier trials. The Encryption gelding traditionally races well fresh, and there has been an avalanche of money for him in early betting. The 1100m looks his best distance, and he has already tasted success at the track. With even luck in transit, he looks like one of the better bets on a tricky program.
Ringarosa was good without winning fresh. The Sebring mare loomed to win inside the final furlong, and she was game in defeat. She is no stranger to this grade, and the current track conditions play in her favour. From the middle gate she will drift back and watch the race unfold, and if she doesn’t get too far out of her ground during the early stages, I expect her to make her presence felt late.
Oceans One is over the odds. The Super One gelding looks well placed in this company, and I suspect he will pilot the field if he can cross the field from the wide gate. The talented five-year-old turned heads at a recent jump-out, and I suspect his quote will shorten before the barriers open. A must for all broader multiples and exotics.
Suggested Bet: Fleetwood@ $3.70
Warwick Farm RACE 7
#14 Pure Alpha
Pure Alpha looks poised to strike. The Ardrossan gelding showed promise in his debut campaign, and the Chris Waller camp has placed him perfectly here for a first-up kill. The enigmatic three-year-old is coming off a string of impressive barrier trials, and the 1300m will suit the big boy fresh. Hard to toss!
Able Willie is too consistent to pot. The Written Tycoon gelding will appreciate the drop in grade, and his best performance here would put his rivals to the sword. The 2kg apprentice puts him into all winning conversations, and he should get the perfect cart into the race from barrier five. Leave him out at your own peril.
Let’s Try is ready to fire. He is perfectly drawn on the pole and traditionally does his best racing third-up from a spell. The All Too Hard gelding is building an impressive career record, and on recent form, he is among the main contenders. The step up in grade is the primary concern.
Suggested Bet: Pure Alpha @ $4.00
Bendigo Race 5
#7 Light Wish
Light Wish has made a near-perfect start to her racing career. The Written Tycoon filly put her rivals away with ease on debut and was only narrowly beaten second-up in a hot-form race in town. She looks well placed on Wednesday, and I suspect she has more upside than the majority of her rivals. The awkward gate is her biggest obstacle.
Romantic Choice is flying at present. The Toronado filly is going through her grades successfully, and this looks a winnable assignment. Barrier one looks ominous, and the 3kg apprentice claim could prove the winning difference. Her record at the distance must respected, and she has been specked at a price in early betting. Over the odds!
Le Parrain raced well against the track bias first-up at Warrnambool. The Street Boss gelding oozes class and strips fitter after his recent outing. The step out in trip is advantageous; I suspect this is his target race for the campaign. The allocated weight is a deterrent, and I am unsure if the current track conditions will play into his favour. Take on trust.
Suggested Bet: Light Wish @ $3.20
Bendigo Race 6
#9 Vanishing
Vanishing has hit the ground running this campaign. The I Am Invincible filly won impressively on debut, and she tried her heart out second-up. The Benchmark 64 grade won’t pose any problems, and if the money continues, she will start race favourite. From barrier five, she will sit midfield with midfield with cover, and if she is presented with her run at the right time, I expect her to greet the judge before her opponents. Ready to peak!
Spicy Margs will have supporters after racing honestly in a higher-class last preparation. The Deep Field filly finds her pet distance fresh, and her best performance here could be fences and panels above her rivals. The addition of Blake Shinn could prove the winning difference, and she has been well-supported since markets were framed. Her overall winning record is the primary concern.
Chosen Venture can run well at cricket-score odds. The Wandjina gelding is running better than his form suggests in the guide, and he is due for a change of fortune in transit. He will appreciate the drop back in distance, and if he brings his best race-day manners, he can threaten in the shadows. His racing pattern and style will always require an element of luck.
Suggested Bet: Vanishing @ $3.30
