The 2023/24 EPL season is about to kick off, with every team chasing the triple reigning champions at Manchester City.
The BetDeluxe experts take an in-depth look at four big games.
Tottenham vs. Wolverhampton
18th February 2:00am
Ange Postecoglou’s in-form Hotspurs have a chance to cement fourth spot on the EPL standings when they host Wolverhampton on Sunday morning.
The $1.55 favourites have remained undefeated in their past five League games – three wins and two draws – and leapfrogged Aston Villa back into fourth.
While they’re clearly favoured in the market, the Spurs will be wary of their recent record against the Wolves and the fact they’ve lost two in a row. Only Chelsea and Liverpool have won more away games against Tottenham since 2018, but Aussie Ange’s squad boast renewed confidence after finding the back of the net seven times in three weeks. Son Heung-Min returned from South Korean national duties for last Saturday’s match and had an immediate impact off the bench when he crossed Brennan Johnson’s stoppage-time winner.
The Wolves’ away form shouldn’t be underestimated, having won two of their last three on the road. Their 2-4 romp of Chelsea was a highlight of their season, with Matheus Cunha netting a hat-trick.
The Spurs have undoubtedly recaptured some of their best attacking form, and with Heung-Min back on deck, they’ve every chance to snap their run of losses against the Wolves and hold onto a top-four spot.
Suggested Bet: Tottenham Half-Time Result @ $2.00
Fulham vs. Aston Villa
18th February 2:00AM
While the Spurs will be looking to stave off the fifth-placed Villa on the standings, Unai Emery’s men will need to overcome a second loss in three games when they travel to Fulham.
It’s been a lean month for Villa as they’ve suffered League defeats to Newcastle (1-3) and Manchester United (1-2) while falling to Chelsea in the FA Cup. However, a 5-0 demolition of the lowly Sheffield should give them the injection of confidence required, with five individual players sharing the spoils.
The market has remained steadfast ahead of their trip to Craven Cottage, despite going down in three of their last four games at Fulham.
As for the Cottagers, they returned to the winner’s column in fine style against Bournemouth last week, with Brazilian striker Rodrigo Muniz scoring twice in his best performance for the Club.
Fulham hasn’t lost a home game this season when they’ve scored, giving Villa defenders a great reason to make it three consecutive away clean sheets.
Suggested Bet: Aston Villa to win @ $2.25
Manchester City vs. chelsea
18th February 4:30AM
Watch out Liverpool, City is coming.
Manchester City’s quest for a fourth-straight title continues to gain traction after making it six League wins in a row when they defeated Everton 2-0 on Saturday. Unsurprisingly, it was the Erling Haaland show once again, with the Norwegian superstar slotting both goals and taking his season tally to 16.
Following Wednesday’s Champions League victory over Copenhagen (3-1), Pep Guardiola’s men have now won 11 consecutive games in all competitions.
On the other hand, the 10th-placed Chelsea have struggled to find consistency this season but will be buoyed by their last-start 3-1 win over Crystal Palace. Despite giving up the first goal of the game, the Blues drew level through Conor Gallagher before slotting two in extra-time via Gallagher and Enzo Fernandez.
Chelsea’s ability to stop Haaland will go a long way to helping them cause an upset, but there’s too little evidence to suggest they can.
Suggested Bet: E. Haaland first goal scorer @ $2.95
