The 2023/24 EPL season is about to kick off, with every team chasing the triple reigning champions at Manchester City.
The BetDeluxe experts take an in-depth look at four big games.
Burnley vs. Manchester City
12th August 5:00am
The reigning champions will officially kick off the new season against Burnley on Saturday, with the market coming hard for City at $1.20.
Pep Guardiola’s team has looked to improve over the off-season, with Josko Gvardiol (RB Leipzig) and Mateo Kovacic (Chelsea) joining the likes of Erling Haaland, Kevin de Bruyne and Julian Alvarez on the most talented side in the competition.
It’s been a tough slog for Vincent Kompany’s Burnley outfit against the champs, having won just one of their past 23 League matches and conceding 40 goals to one from their previous 11 outings in all competitions.
While the head-to-head markets are too short to enter, there could be value to be found for those willing to put the time in.
Suggested Bet: E. Haaland first goal scorer @ $2.65
Brentford vs. Tottenham
13th August 11:00PM
Aussie Ange Postecoglou will officially kick-start his reign as Tottenham Hotspur Manager when they travel to Brentford on Sunday.
It will be a momentous occasion for the former Australian national coach as he becomes the first Aussie to lead an EPL side. Over the past two seasons, he most recently led Celtic to the Scottish Premiership.
The Spurs will enter their opener as slight favourites with BetDeluxe, currently trading at $2.45 to Brentford’s $2.70. Although they have only won two of their past 10 League meetings against the Spurs, Brentford ran away with a 3-1 victory in their most recent match-up in May.
Harry Kane might not be at the Spurs for much longer, but while he is, we’re backing Aussie Ange to get the points on debut.
Suggested Bet: Spurs to win @ $2.45
Chelsea vs. Liverpool
14th August 1:30AM
Clearly the match of the round, Chelsea and Liverpool will reignite their long-standing rivalry when they meet at Stamford Bridge on Monday.
Despite each of the last six games between these two sides ending in a draw, The Reds will enter the match as $2.35 favourites on the back of their sensational run in the last 10 games of the season.
It’s easy to see why with the sheer amount of talent at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal, including Mo Salah, Darwin Nunez, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk.
While no team has won more opening games than Chelsea (20), The Reds haven’t lost their opening in 10 seasons. Will be a belter.
Suggested Bet: A draw @ $3.60
Manchester United vs. Wolverhampton
15th August 5:00AM
Can the Red Devils return to the top of the table after more than a decade in the wilderness?
They couldn’t have asked for a better way to commence their 2023/24 campaign than a match-up with the Wolves at Old Trafford.
United finished third last season behind City and Arsenal but has since added three key signings, including former Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana.
They’ve lost just one of their past 12 home League games against the Wolves and should have few issues in this one with the likes of Marcus Rashford running riot.
Suggested Bet: United to win @ $1.30
