The Listed ‘The Rosebud’ is the feature event this Saturday at Rosehill Gardens. With all runners engaged having lofty spring aspirations, find out who can start their new campaign on a winning note!

Rosehill Race 7

#3 Wategos

Wategos is winning for fun at present. The Capitalist gelding is chasing a hattrick of victories on Saturday, and he arguably should be undefeated for the campaign. The talented five-year-old won in a canter at his latest outing and meets easier opposition here. From barrier eleven, he will drift back and find his hooves, and if he can stay in touch with the peloton during the race’s middle stages, he can blouse his opposition late. The allocated weight is his biggest obstacle.

Freedom Rally will start a short-priced favourite after building a picket fence next to his name. The Rubick gelding has dominated his races in Brisbane, and he now gets a chance to showcase his talent in Sydney. From the middle gate, he will roll forward, and if he can pinch some cheap sectionals in transit, he will look like the winner as they run for the judge. This is his acid test!

Chorlton Lane can make amends after producing a flat second-up run. The Mehmas gelding caught the eyes of punters first up, and his best performance would see him figure in the finish. The step out to 1400m is perfect at this stage of his campaign, and I am expecting a peak run for the campaign third-up from a spell. It may pay dividends to watch for any significant market support.

Suggested Bet: Wategos @ $5.00

Rosehill RACE 8

#2 Tiz Invincible

Tiz Invincible will start favourite in the feature event of the day. The I Am Invincible filly turned heads in her debut campaign, and her recent barrier trials broke on course clocks. From barrier one, she can sit just behind the speed, and if the leaders over race during the early stages of the race, she will prove too strong late. The James McDonald and Maher and Eustace combination will attract heavy market support, and if she sees clear air before the furlong, it could be a demolition job. Hard to toss!

The Instructor will have supporters after a brilliant autumn campaign. The one-time Blue Diamond favourite is always fast out of the barriers, and I expect him to burn the turf during the race’s early stages on Saturday. The 1100m suits fresh, and I suspect his two recent barrier trials will have the Russian Revolution colt cherry ripe for a first-up tilt. It could be curtains a long way from home if he can dictate the tempo throughout.

Introducing can win resuming. The Trapeze Artist colt showed plenty of talent early doors, and there is a heap of natural improvement to come this season for the big boy. His recent barrier trials should have the field on notice, and if he can stay out of the early-speed battle, he can upset his more fancied rivals. Big watch!

Suggested Bet:  Tiz Invincible @ $2.50

Rosehill Race 9

#2 Pericles

The unpredictable Pericles resumes and will start a short-priced favourite. The Street Boss gelding raced at an extremely high level during the autumn, and he nearly pinched a few time-honoured features. He is a winner first-up previously, and he excels at the 1400m fresh. His trial leading into this event was too good to ignore, and if he is fully wound up, he will take some beating. His ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory is the primary concern.

Ucalledit is too consistent to dismiss. The Zacinto gelding is having a career-defining campaign to date, and he was a stunning winner of the Winter Stakes at his latest outing. The 3kg apprentice claim is advantageous, and his record at the distance is outrageous. With even luck in running, I expect him to make his presence felt when the whips are cracking. Jumping from a different suburb is his biggest challenge.

Perfect Thought looks over the odds. The So You Think four-year-old boasts form around the Group 1 winner Kovalica, and his recent barrier trials will put him in good order for a first-up tilt. His best form reads incredibly well for this event, and he deserves his shot at this level on Saturday. Knockout chance!

Suggested Bet: Pericles @ $3.00

Rosehill Race 10

#1 Kir Royale

Kir Royale is ready to explode third-up from a spell. Both runs of this preparation have been ominous, and she finds a very winnable assignment on Saturday. The Benchmark 78 opposition won’t hold any fears for the I Am Invincible mare, and she looks dangerous lining up over her pet distance. She can sit outside the lead from barrier eight, and if they don’t break the clock early, she can wave the field goodbye at the furlong.

Molly Nails can run a drum at a decent price. The Tavistock mare has a near faultless first-up record, and she has been specked at cricket score odds in early betting. She will sit in the box seat from barrier four, and if the gaps appear at the right time, she can figure in the finish. Her record at the 1100m is the biggest deterrent.

Troach can make amends after a disappointing first-up performance. The Epaulette mare covered more ground than the early settlers, and she looked uncomfortable in the run. From barrier three, she will roll forward and take up the pole position, and if she is left to her devices on top of the speed, she can lead them a merry dance. Her second-up record is rock-solid, and she excels over the distance. A flat second-up run is a real possibility.

Suggested Bet: Kir Royale @ $6.50
