Sandown Race 5

#2 Boh Rhap

Boh Rhap is flying! The Reward For Effort gelding is chasing a hat trick of victories, and the talented five-year-old looks well-placed to continue his winning form in this company. His win two starts back at Donald was dominant, and his last start victory at Geelong was tough and resilient. From barrier two, he will get the run of the race, and if Thomas Stockdale angles the big boy off the rails at the right time, I expect him to figure in the finish. Big watch!

Colombe D’or will have supporters after an impressive first-up victory at Werribee. The Rubick mare came from the clouds, and she snatched victory in the shadows of the post. The 2kg apprentice claim is advantageous; she will appreciate the step out in distance. From barrier one, she will drift back during the early stages of the race, and if she is within striking distance of the leaders on straightening, she can win. If the heavens open, she will start favourite.

Igotcha has been heavily supported since markets opened. The Puissance De Lune mare began her career stylishly at the track, and there is no reason she can’t take the next step on Wednesday. The 1600m is ideal second-up, and the current track condition will play in her favour. She may need some luck in transit with her racing pattern and style.

Suggested Bet: Boh Rhap @ $4.20

Sandown RACE 6

#4 Jabbawockeez

Jabbawockeez turned heads two starts back at the track. He relished the heavy conditions and made light work of the mile. He was game in defeat at his latest outing in a hot form race, and the step out to 1800m looks perfect on Wednesday. The Redwood gelding can sit in a prominent position from the middle gate, and if he carries the allocated grandstand weight, he can greet the judge before his rivals.

Frigid will start favourite after an impressive campaign to date. The Frosted mare has filled the minor placings all campaign, and she finally broke through last start for a well-deserved victory. She can get a dream run from barrier three, and with the luxury of the 2kg apprentice claim, she has one hoof on the till. This is her acid test!

Sir Rockford is too consistent to dismiss. The Shocking gelding is always thereabouts, and he has notched up several victories this campaign. The 1800m won’t pose a problem, and he has been well-supported since markets opened. From the wide gate, he can sit in the one out one back position, and if the leaders spend their pennies early, he may be Johnny on the spot late. The length of his campaign is the primary concern.

Suggested Bet: Jabbawockeez @ $4.40

Sandown Race 7

#8 Rheinberg

Rheinberg has the penultimate event at his mercy. The Swiss Ace gelding won first-up at Sale by a furlong, and he deserves his shot at the next level on Wednesday. The lightly-raced five-year-old is building an impressive career record, and with even luck in transit, he can add another victory to his resume at 3:55 pm. From the carpark draw, he will jump and slide forward in search of the lead, and if he finds the front during the race’s early stages, the fat lady could be warming up her vocal cords before the field turns for home.

Hughes chased home a smart one fresh at the track over 1400m. The drop back to 1300m could prove a masterstroke, and he traditionally races well second-up. He can sit outside the leader from barrier eight, and if the odds-on favourite has an off day, he will be the winner. The Russian Revolution gelding is lightly-raced, and I suspect he is in for a long and successful spring campaign.

Fistsoffury can resume a winner at a decent price. The Dundeel gelding had a successful debut campaign, and his best form reads well for this event. The 55kg allocated weight is a luxury, and if his recent jumpouts are anything to go by, he can surprise his more fancied rivals. Over the odds!

Suggested Bet: Rheinberg @ $1.85

Sandown Race 8

#2 Extreme Step

Extreme Step caught the eye first-up from a spell. She strips fitter and can sit in the box seat from the inside draw. The apprentice claim puts her into all winning conversations, and she looks over the odds in a very open and even affair. If she can get to the middle of the track and make her run when the whips are cracking, she can pinch the prize at a price. Her recent winning record is the primary concern.

Nunthorpe can breakthrough for the new Moody and Coleman training partnership. Nunthorpe will fly the flag for the new combination, and she looks terribly hard to beat. Her last preparation was brilliant, and her best performance would see her figure in the finish. She will roll forward from barrier one, and if she can control the tempo, she will prove hard to run down.

Wellie Belle is racing in great spirit. All runs this campaign have been full of merit, and she gives 110% every time she goes around. The 1300m is in her wheelhouse, and she handles all track conditions. If the Danerich mare can find cover from the carpark draw, she can make her presence felt when the post is approaching.

Suggested Bet: Extreme Step @ $15.00
