It’s the first round of the AFL byes, but we still have seven games to sink our teeth into.
BetDeluxe provides tips for every game, including the huge clash between Gold Coast and Adelaide at TIO Stadium.
game of the week: Suns vs. Crows
3rd June 7:30PM
A standout for the Round 12 Game of the Week, the Gold Coast Suns will attempt to win their fourth game from six outings when they ‘host’ the Crows at TIO Stadium.
The teams can’t be separated in the market at $1.92 apiece, with Adelaide needing to win away from home for the first time since Round Six (Hawthorn) and for just the second time this season.
During last Sunday’s match-up with Brisbane, the Crows were sensational, running out 17-point winners on the back of 32 disposals from Jordan Dawson and another three goals from Tex Walker. Reilly O’Brien must replicate his performance against Oscar McInerney when he faces Jarrod Witts.
The Suns have found their winning form of late and will be buoyed by their seven-point win over the Bulldogs at TIO. Backing up in Darwin will fill them with confidence as the in-form Matt Rowell and Noah Anderson go head-to-head with the Crows’ dominant on-ballers.
Adelaide will not receive a better chance to win away from home than a Gold Coast match in Darwin.
Suggested Bet: Crows 1-39 @ $2.50
Demons vs. Blues
2nd June 7:50pm
Neither side is setting the AFL world on fire, but it’s safe to say the Demons are in a lot better place than the Blues. With 1.6 from their twin towers, Charlie Curnow and Harry McKay, last week, there has never been as much pressure on Carlton’s forwards. They are confident Patrick Cripps will overcome an ankle issue but lose George Hewett, Ollie Hollands, Nic Newman, Marc Pittonet and Corey Durdin — no excuses for the Dees.
Suggested Bet: Demons to win @ $1.38
Power vs. Hawks
3rd June 1:45pm
Power fans have already started buying their finals tickets, and why not? I mean, they’ve won eight straight. No side is in better form, and they’re likely to only get better with the potential return of Tom Jonas, Todd Marshall, and Charlie Dixon. While the Hawks certainly impress in their own way, they’re up against the benchmark.
Suggested Bet: Power 1-39 @ $2.50
Eagles vs. Magpies
3rd June 4:35PM
While one could argue West Coast’s 50-point loss to the Bombers was an improved performance after their horrific showing against the Hawks one week prior, it doesn’t get any easier to secure a second win for the year against the juggernaut that is Collingwood. Adam Simpson lost Luke Edwards to a concussion, meaning another forced change. The Pies are currently trading at $1.04. It says it all.
Suggested Bet: Magpies (-57.5) @ $1.90
Bulldogs vs. Cats
3rd June 7:25PM
Can the reigning premiers snap their three-game losing streak? It’s been challenging for Geelong as they’ve slumped outside the eight with losses to Richmond, Fremantle and GWS. The Bulldogs were brought back down to earth by the Suns in Darwin, but with Adam Treloar set to return from a hamstring strain, they appear well-priced at $1.62 with BetDeluxe.
Suggested Bet: Bulldogs to win @ $1.62
Giants vs. Tigers
4th June 1:10PM
A battle of 14th vs 15th. The current form indicates this is a much better match-up than ladder positions would suggest, with the Tigers having lost to top-eight sides Essendon and Port Adelaide by a combined 11 points. The Giants celebrated Toby Greene’s milestone match with a seven-point win over the Cats, but the Tigers at $2.09 have captured our attention in this one.
Suggested Bet: Tigers (+4.5) @ $1.90
Bombers vs. Kangaroos
4th June 4:40PM
The final match of the round pits the eighth-placed Bombers against North Melbourne in 17th. The Kangaroos have improved over the past two weeks with a 35-point loss to Collingwood and a three-point thriller against Sydney, but so have the Bombers. They’ve downed Richmond and West Coast. Closer than the market suggests, but the Bombers should cement their spot in the eight.
Suggested Bet: J. Stringer first goal scorer @ $10
