Magic Round may have come and gone for another season, but there’s no shortage of incredible match-ups as we enter Round 11 of the NRL season.
Kicking off with the Storm and the Broncos, BetDeluxe dives head-on into every game.
game of the week: Storm vs. Broncos
11th May 7:50pm
There were a couple of possibilities for the Round 11 Game of the Week, but we’ve settled on the clash of the Titans between the Storm and Broncos at Aami Park.
It was a tale of two wildly different performances for these teams during Magic Round, with the Storm handed a 16-point lesson from Souths, while the Broncos made light work of the Sea Eagles 6-32.
Craig Bellamy lamented the inconsistency of the Storm during the first 10 rounds of the season, having accounted for the Roosters, Warriors and Bunnies (in Sydney) but lowering their colours to the lower-ranked Bulldogs and Titans. They were caught napping after half-time against Souths over the weekend and gave up 16 points to six in the second half. They’ll need to put it down to post-bye lethargy as they enter this clash with an unchanged 17.
At the other end of the spectrum were the Broncos, who dismantled Manly on the back of a Selwyn Cobbo hat trick. Payne Haas was enormous in his return from suspension, with a game-high 217 metres gained. Like the Storm, there are no changes to the ladder leaders’ 17 as they try replicating their performance in front of a hostile Aami Park crowd.
Suggested Bet: Same Game Multi
- Leg 1: Storm to win
- Leg 2: Over 41.5 total points
- Leg 3: J. Arthars score anytime
- Leg 4: N. Meaney score anytime
- Total: $11
Bulldogs vs. Warriors
12th May 6:00pm
After narrowly falling short against the in-form Raiders, the Bulldogs will be buoyed by the return of Josh Addo-Carr following a four-week stint on the sidelines with an ankle injury. The Warriors were third on the ladder less than a month ago before a tough fixture and three consecutive losses against the Panthers, Roosters, and Storm drove them into 11th. If the Bulldogs are going to claim a scalp, this is the week.
Suggested Bet: Bulldogs (+1.5) @ $1.94
Panthers vs. Roosters
12th May 8:00pm
How often have we asked if the Panthers are back this year? Well, just two weeks out from their loss to the Tigers means we’re certainly not asking it yet. However, a home win against the Roosters after their win over the Warriors will go a long way to instilling a bit of confidence in the reigning premiers.
Suggested Bet: Panthers to win @ $1.49
Rabbitohs vs. Tigers
13th May 3:00PM
These Bunnies are on fire! The second-placed Souths made it five wins in a row during Magic Round, running over the Storm by 16 points at Suncorp Stadium. Their recent list of scalps is as good as it gets – Storm, Broncos, Panthers, Dolphins, and Bulldogs. At $1.14 in the head-to-head markets, it would take something special from the Wests to cause any kind of upset.
Suggested Bet: C. Walker anytime try scorer @ $2
Cowboys vs. Dragons
13th May 5:30PM
Punters are back on the Cowboys’ bandwagon following Sunday’s dominant 6-20 victory over the Roosters. And $1.45 seems reasonable for Todd Payten’s chargers, especially given the Dragons are coming off a two-point loss to the Tigers. It was St George’s fifth straight loss, and fans are calling for Anthony Griffin’s head. A must-win.
Suggested Bet: Cowboys 1-12 @ $2.95
Raiders vs. Eels
13th May 7:35PM
This can potentially be the game of the round, with Canberra currently the $1.62 favourite. The Raiders, who won just one game from their first five, made it four on the bounce with a victory over the Bulldogs, while the Eels went down to the Titans by just two points. Mitchell Moses will miss because of the 11-day concussion protocols, giving the Raiders the edge at home.
Suggested Bet: J. Rapana anytime try scorer @ $1.85
Knights vs. Titans
14th May 2:00PM
It was a quiet Magic Round for the Knights this year as they sat out with the bye. The 12th-placed side will be hoping the break acts as a much-needed circuit breaker for their three-game losing streak. Kruise Leeming will return to the bench for the Titans after their impressive victory over the Eels. They’re in form and looking to make it three straight.
Suggested Bet: Titans to win @ $1.85
Sea Eagles vs. Sharks
14th May 4:05PM
Boy, oh boy, do the Sea Eagles need a win. They’ve dropped from second to 10th on the ladder in the space of two weeks, with their 26-point Magic Round loss to the Broncos sending them outside the eight. The Sharks got a wake-up call of their own against the Dolphins but should be strong enough to bounce back this week.
Suggested Bet: Sharks to win @ $1.54
