AFL Tips & Previews, 28th April

Tips, previews and all the best bets you need for Round Seven of the AFL, including a close look at the in-form Crows and Magpies.

Round Seven of AFL action is here, and BetDeluxe takes us through all the best bets, including the mouthwatering Sunday twilight clash between the Crows and the Magpies.

game of the week: Crows vs Magpies

30th April 4:40PM

Two of the most in-form sides go head-to-head in Sunday’s twilight game, with the Pies travelling to Adelaide as $1.61 favourites with BetDeluxe.

Matthew Nicks will enter the game with a relatively unchanged line-up from the squad that edged past Hawthorn by three points. Rory Sloane (30) and Rory Laird (29) combined for 59 disposals, while Tex Walker pieced together his most vital game of the year with four goals. The Crows have now defeated Port, Fremantle, Carlton, and the Hawks on their current four-game winning streak.

The Pies will only have five days to recover from their epic Anzac Day performance against Essendon, coming from five goals down and running out 13-point winners at the ‘G. The Crows will be the latest team trying to figure out the secret to stopping Nick Daicos after the young star had 40 touches, two goals and won the Anzac Day Medal.

It promises to be a shootout on the Adelaide Oval, but a short turnaround after a taxing Anzac Day victory means we’re leaning towards the home side.

Suggested Bet: Adelaide (+7.5) @ $1.90

Saints vs. Power

28th April 7:50pm

Ross Lyon and his Sainters are refusing to give up top spot, with an impressive 22-point win over Carlton showcasing their ability to take down the better sides. While Port have worked their way into 7th, they’ll need to find replacements for Todd Marshall (concussion), Kane Farrell (jaw) and Tom Jonas (suspension). The Saints are on the march.

Suggested Bet: St Kilda to win @ $1.45

Lions vs. dockers

29th April 1:45pm

Three consecutive victories, and the Lions are starting to purr. And if there’s any Lion making more noise than another, it’s Charlie Cameron, after his latest bag of seven took his tally to 17 from the past three games. How do the Dockers stop him?

Suggested Bet: Brisbane (-37.5) @ $1.90

Swans vs. Giants

29th April 2:10PM

The Sydney Derby is as interesting as any in recent memory as both sides desperately chase the four points. The Swans are coming off a humiliating 93-point loss to the Cats, while the Giants have only beaten Hawthorn since Round One. Adam Kennedy (ACL), Callan Ward (suspension) and Sam Taylor (hamstring) make this very, very difficult for the little brothers.

Suggested Bet: T. Papley, first goal scorer @ $8

Bulldogs vs. Hawks

29th April 4:35PM

The Doggies have quietly gone about their business over recent weeks and levelled up at 3-3 following their 49-point win in the west. Tom Liberatore has been ruled out of this game with concussion, but it should matter little with Marcus Bontempelli and Tim English arguably in career-best form. Sam Mitchell’s Hawks were gallant but not up to the standard of the Dogs.

Suggested Bet: Western Bulldogs 1-39 @ $2.18

Demons vs. Kangaroos

29th April 7:25PM

Melbourne and by how much? That should be the answer to any queries about the result of this one. The Dees took a while to get going against Richmond on Anzac Eve, but boy oh boy, they got going with nine goals to three in the second half. Todd Goldstein will have his work cut out for him with the Gawn and Grundy machine back at it.

Suggested Bet: Melbourne 40+ @ $1.66

Eagles vs. Blues

29th April 7:30PM

Both sides will be looking at this match-up with great anticipation and as very winnable. The Eagles, who have won just one game and averaged 108 points against, find themselves against a vulnerable Carlton side that has lost two in a row. Granted, this should be easier for the Blues, especially if they can regain Adam Saad.

Suggested Bet: Over (+171.5) @ $1.87

Bombers vs. Cats

30th April 1:10PM

Another Sunday blockbuster. The Bombers will want to bounce back from their final quarter fadeout against Collingwood and will get an immediate injection of enthusiasm with the return of Zach Merrett. However, the Geelong machine is back in cruise control and will benefit from an extra three days of recovery.

Suggested Bet: Geelong to win @ $1.43

Tigers vs. Suns

30th April 3:20PM

A must-win for the Tigers if they want to push for finals in 2023. They were gallant in their 18-point loss to the Dees but will need to come to terms with being undermanned while their injured stars continue to recover. It’s a task made easier with the injury to star Suns midfielder Touk Miller, a hole they cannot fill.

Suggested Bet: Richmond 1-39 @ $2.12
