game of the week: Broncos vs. Rabbitohs

28th April 8:00pm

No NRL fan could argue with this week’s feature as the Broncos prepare to host South Sydney on Friday night. Surprisingly, the home side will go in as underdogs after a spate of outs from their Round Eight clash against the Eels.

The Broncos put their game against Parramatta to bed with a 6-22 first half, with Herbie Farnworth, Adam Reynolds, Ezra Mam and Kotoni Staggs all finding the try line. However, they will be without Dally M leader Payne Haas (suspension), Ezra Mam (suspension) and Corey Oates after he suffered a knee injury.

There’s arguably no team more in form than the Bunnies after they made it three straight wins with a two-point victory over the Panthers. Latrell Mitchell continued his incredible run of form with two tries and another dominant display. Things are only looking better for the Bunnies, with Tevita Tatola returning from a knee injury, giving them every chance to knock off the #1 seeds at home.

Suggested Bet: L. Mitchell anytime try scorer @ $2.20

Sharks vs. Cowboys

27th April 7:50pm

The Sharks have caught fire since their Round Six bye, defeating the Roosters before following it up with a 13-point victory over the Bulldogs. While the Cowboys were able to hold off the Knights over the weekend, Craig Fitzgibbon’s unchanged line-up should have the firepower to make it three straight.

Suggested Bet: Sharks (-10.5) @ $1.88

Eels vs. Knights

28th April 6:00pm

The Eels were gallant in their 10-point loss to the all-conquering Broncos, with a 10-4 second half showing they can still match it with the best. It’s been a frustrating fortnight for the Knights with a one-point loss to the Panthers and a two-point loss to the Cowboys, making this a winnable match at odds.

Suggested Bet: D. Young anytime try scorer @ $1.95

Raiders vs. dolphins

29th April 3:00PM

The Raiders will enter this one refreshed and hungry after sitting out with the bye round on the back of two wins – one being that ladder-leading powerhouse from Brisbane. Meanwhile, Kenny Bromwich will come back into a Dolphins line-up that produced one of the great comebacks against the Titans after trailing by 20 points at half-time. If they can put on 22 straight in the second half against the Gold Coast, anything is possible when these two sides meet.

Suggested Bet: Dolphins (+4.5) @ $1.84

Sea Eagles vs. Titans

29th April 5:30PM

The Sea Eagles are officially back in winning form following two consecutive W’s, but are we convinced? While they put in a strong showing against the Storm two weeks ago, they were made to work for their six-point victory over the Tigers on Sunday. Irrespective, they should be too strong for the Titans, but it could be closer than the market predicts if Tom Trbojevic (groin) doesn’t pass a fitness test.

Suggested Bet: Sea Eagles to win @ $1.45

Panthers vs. Tigers

29th April 7:35PM

Things really don’t get much easier for the winless Tigers. After going agonisingly close to upsetting the Sea Eagles, they must now face a Panthers unit coming off a loss to the Rabbitohs. What happened the last time Penrith lost? They drove home nine tries and demolished Canberra to the tune of 41 points.

Suggested Bet: Panthers 13+ @ $1.49

Warriors vs. Roosters

30th April 2:00PM

An injury-ravaged Warriors or a wildly out-of-form Roosters? The market says Sydney is $1.45, and we tend to agree they should win this. Tohu Harris (knee), Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad (head knock) and Jazz Tevaga (Achilles) are all sidelined after the Anzac Day clash against the Storm, while the Roosters will welcome Nat Butcher back from suspension. Almost a must-win for the tri-colours.

Suggested Bet: Roosters 1-12 @ $3

Dragons vs. Bulldogs

30th April 4:05PM

St George will be buoyed by their performance against the Roosters, scoring five tries during their one-point loss at Allianz Stadium. Tautau Moga was almost the hero with three shots, but he will miss after suffering a shoulder injury. It shouldn’t matter too much, with the Bulldogs losing three in a row after going down to the Sharks.

Suggested Bet: Dragons to win @ $1.67
