Morphettville Tips & Previews, April 22nd

The City of Churches is the place to be this Saturday with wall-to-wall stakes and listed races at Morphettville. The City Of Adelaide Handicap and Redelva Stakes are the feature events, and while the locals will be out in full force, there are some well-known interstate raiders trying to pinch the black type!

The City Of Adelaide Handicap and Redelva Stakes are the feature events, and while the locals will be out in full force, some well-known interstate raiders are trying to pinch the black type!

Ayrton is facing D-Day. The Iffraaj gelding won six out of his first eight starts. However, he hasn’t troubled the scorer since. His two performances this preparation have signalled a return to form, and the significant drop-in class is in his favour on Saturday. He is ready to peak third-up from a spell and gets his chance to rewind the clock in a winnable race.

Noname Lane is ready to explode after two impressive runs this campaign. The Shamus Award gelding will push forward from a middle gate, and if he can get a breather mid-race on top of the speed, he may prove hard to run down. He will look the winner on straightening.

Saskatoon is flying! The Star Turn gelding looks well placed, and he should get the run of the race from barrier three. If the gaps appear on straightening, he can make his presence felt. He is racing in great spirit, and I expect the market support to continue until the barriers open.

Suggested Bet: Ayrton @ $4.80

#5 I'mlovin'ya

I’mlovin’ya can return to the winners’ circle first-up after a frustrating preparation. The Capitalist filly raced in several strong races last campaign. However, she fell marginally short against some serious and proven gallopers. Her record at the distance must be respected, and if she can find cover from a tricky barrier, I expect her to figure in the finish. Her winning record is the primary concern.

Renosu will start favourite despite drawing the carpark. The Exceed And Excel gelding was beaten by a smart one at Flemington last start, and his run prior was an impressive victory against open-class horses at Warwick Farm. He is racing in fine form, and with even luck in transit, he will be there when the whips are cracking

Doull looks progressive. His fresh win at Sale was great, and he was game in defeat second-up in a strong-form race at Moonee Valley. He is ready to peak, and the drop back to 1100m looks ideal. Jumping from another postcode is the Snitzel colt’s biggest obstacle.

Suggested Bet: I’mlovin’ya @ $7.00

Morphettville Race 9

#9 Seradess

Seradess was grabbed in the shadows at Flemington first-up by the talented Veranskova. He strips fitter, and his record at the track and distance speaks volumes. From barrier three, he will roll forward and make his own luck on top of the speed, and if he is left to his own devices, the race may be over at the top of the straight. The step up in class is the primary concern.

In The Boat has snatched defeat from the jaws of victory at his last two starts. The Nostradamus gelding is suited at 1100m, and he should get his chance to fight for the lead jumping from a middle gate. He is ready to peak; I expect this has been a long-range targeted event. It may pay dividends to watch for any significant market support.

Queman is over the odds. The Mint Lane gelding has been going through his grades nicely, and he was game in defeat at his latest outing against some quality competition. From barrier one, he can camp on the leaders’ back, and if the tempo is too hot through the middle stages, he may be Johnny on the spot.

Suggested Bet: Seradess @ $5.50

Morphettville Race 10

#11 Endlessly

Endlessly looks well placed dropping back in class. The Sebring mare was game in defeat at Oakbank, and she is ready to produce a peak run for the campaign. The step back to 1000m is advantageous, and the apprentice claim could prove a winning move. The length of her campaign is the primary concern.

Sistine Explorer was an impressive winner first up from a spell. She led them a merry dance on top of the speed at Ararat, and there is no reason why the same jockey tactics can’t be employed here. The 1000m will suit the Brazen Beau mare, and if she can cross from an awkward alley, she may gap them on straightening. The rise in class is her biggest obstacle.

Siyata can run well at cricket score odds. The Siyouni mare has been running well without luck, and she looks ready to explode third-up from a spell. She is undefeated at the distance, and the Will Clarken stable is currently training winners for fun. Barrier eighteen may determine her fate in the early stages.

Suggested Bet: Endlessly @ $7.50
