Round Seven of the NRL season is here, and the ladder is slowly taking shape.
This round’s Game of the Week between the Sharks and Roosters promises to be a classic, but the quality match-ups certainly don’t stop there.
game of the week: Sharks vs. Roosters
14th April 6:00pm
The battle of the New South Welshman has been dubbed the Round Seven Game of the Week as the Roosters look to bounce back from their 20-point loss to the Storm.
It was all downhill after Jaxson Paulo scored the first of the match at the 12-minute mark, with the James Tedesco-less Roosters failing to add another try while watching the Storm drive home five of their own. Tedesco returns to the team at a critical time and after leading the Tricolours to victory at the Sharks’ home ground last season.
The 11th-placed Sharks had the bye last weekend following their second loss in three weeks against the Warriors. They led 20-0 in that game before being run down. Royce Hunt and Cameron McInnes have been promoted to the starting side, meaning the returning Wade Graham and Oregon Kaufusi will come off the bench.
Both sides are still trying to find the right combinations and a bit of consistency this season, with Teddy’s inclusion the reason we’re siding with the Roosters.
Suggested Bet: Same Game Multi
- Leg 1: Roosters to win
- Leg 2: Over 40.5 total points
- Leg 3: J. Paulo anytime scorer
- Leg 4: R. Mulitalo anytime scorer
- Total: $9
Dolphins vs. Rabbitohs
13th April 7:50pm
Closer than the market suggests, but understandable after the Souths pieced together their most dominant performance against the Bulldogs, with Latrell Mitchell and Campbell Graham dropping trebles in their 34-point win. The Dolphins returned to form themselves, but we’re not sure that even Jesse Bromwich’s return will save them from the rampaging Rabbitohs.
Suggested Bet: L. Mitchell anytime try scorer @ $1.96
Sea Eagles vs. Storm
14th April 8:00pm
Find me two sides with a greater disparity between form lines….I’ll wait. The Storm launched into third spot on the ladder with a comfortable showing against the Roosters, while the Sea Eagles lowered their wings at the paws of the Panthers. Craig Bellamy’s formula is working. Again.
Suggested Bet: Storm to win @ $1.53
Warriors vs. Cowboys
15th April 3:00PM
Could have been the game of the week if not for the rivalry between the New South Welshmen. Very little separates these two sides in the market, with Te Maire Martin and Wayde Egan’s omission due to injury the only reason the Warriors aren’t starting as favourites. Despite the returning Jeremiah Nanai and Murray Taulagi, it still looks the Warriors’ game to lose.
Suggested Bet: Warriors 1-12 @ $3.10
Knights vs. Panthers
15th April 5:30PM
Any outlandish thoughts about the Panthers’ hunger this season have been neutralised over the past two weeks, with wins against the Raiders and Sea Eagles by a combined 73 points. The Knights slowed the Warriors’ run well, but the Panthers’ sprint – and Jayden Brailey’s ACL injury – makes this a completely different ball game for Adam O’Brien’s men.
Suggested Bet: I. Tago anytime try scorer @ $2
Titans vs. Broncos
15th April 7:35PM
The Titans were tough in their two-point win over the Dragons, but celebrations would have been short-lived, knowing Toby Sexton fractured his wrist and that they were coming up against a Broncos team who just recorded their first loss. To the Raiders. Thomas Flegler is out after failing an HIA last week but expect the ladder leaders to come out with a point to prove.
Suggested Bet: Broncos (-10.5) @ $1.92
Raiders vs. Dragons
16th April 2:00PM
Who saw that coming? A Canberra Raiders upset against the previously undefeated Broncos? And it gets better for Ricky Stuart, with Jack Wighton, Joseph Tapine and Nick Cotric all returning to the side. The Dragons narrowly missed against the Titans, so the market has undoubtedly gravitated to the home side.
Suggested Bet: Raiders to win @ $1.50
Eels vs. Bulldogs
16th April 4:05PM
The Eels will enter their clash with the Bulldogs as raging hot favourites after downing the Wests and earning their second win of the season. Co-captain Junior Paulo returns from suspension, while the Bulldogs will rue injuries to Josh Addo-Carr and Viliame Kikau. The Eels are well-placed to start making their run.
Suggested Bet: Eels to win @ $1.39
