The Tancred Stakes is the headline act at Rosehill this Saturday. With a host of Listed and Group races supporting the main event, this is the perfect way to finish the Rosehill autumn carnival for 2023.
Rosehill Race 7
#1 Prowess
Prowess is very talented! The New Zealand visitor has won four races on the trot and has already tasted Group 1 success. From an inside draw, the Proisir filly looks ominous, and if she races up to her best, she will prove hard to hold out. She has been well-backed since markets opened, and I expect the money to continue until the barriers open.
Fireburn has finally drawn a decent gate. The 2022 Golden Slipper winner has been luckless this campaign, and she can atone here over the 2000m. She should be rock-hard fit for this stage of her preparation, and if they over race through the middle stages, she can swoop over her rivals late.
Pavitra was brilliant at Kembla Grange last start. The American Pharoah filly was eased down to smile at the camera as the race was over a long way from home. The 2000m looks advantageous; a peak run is just around the corner.

Rosehill RACE 8
#1 Gold Trip
Gold Trip is ready for 2400m. Both runs this preparation have been teasing over unsuitable distances, and I expect a peak performance on Saturday. He will gobble them up late if they go too hard on top of the speed early. The wide barrier is the primary concern.
Montefilia can run well on quick back-up. She was good behind an intelligent one second-up and traditionally does her best racing third-up from a spell. Her run at the distance in the Caulfield Cup was a beauty, and repeating that performance would put her in the finish.
King Frankel can bounce back after a disappointing second-up run. He got too far out of his ground and should strip fitter after doing all the donkey work. From a middle gate, he can sit closer to the speed, and if he can find some cover in the run, he will be there when the whips are cracking.

Rosehill Race 9
#2 Skyman
Skyman can surprise his more fancied rivals first up from a spell. His fresh performances last campaign were great, and he should get every chance to run a strong race from the perfect inside draw. The expected pace in the early stages will suit the Mukhadram gelding, and if the gaps appear on straightening, he can figure in the finish.
Cross Talk is flying this campaign. The Keano gelding was brave last start on top of the speed at Newcastle, and he should be rock-hard fit for this stage of his preparation. He will make his luck in front, and if he can pinch some cheap sectionals in transit, he may prove hard to run down.
Bandersnatch is racing well without winning. The Casino Prince gelding finds a suitable race on Saturday, and with a change of luck, I expect him to be there when the whips are cracking.

#19 Finepoint
Open benchmark event to finish a great day of racing!
Tamerlane will start favourite after a game first-up performance behind a talented galloper. He usually runs well at the distance, and he is drawn to receive the run of the race. His second-up record is a concern, and this looks like a very competitive Benchmark 88.
I am happy to be with Finepoint after a flashing first-up performance. The Pins mare strips fitter and I expect plenty of improvement to come for the remainder of the preparation. Her second up record must be respected, and she excels at the distance. If she can find the front in the race’s early stages, she may prove hard to run down.
Substantial can run well first up. The Siyouni gelding has an excellent fresh record, and the Snowden-trained galloper is a 1400m specialist. His trial leading into this event will make him cherry-picky for a first-up tilt.
