NRL Tips & Previews, 23rd March

Tips, previews and all you need for every Round Four game of NRL this weekend.

With three incredible rounds of NRL done and dusted, our experts break down the best bets for every game of Round Four.

Eels vs. Panthers

23rd March 8:00pm

They say revenge is a dish best-served cold, but we’re sure the Parramatta Eels will happily take it in this round’s grand final re-match.

After going down to the Panthers 28-12 on the last day of the 2022 season, the Eels have yet to win a game. They’ve gone down to the Storm, the Sharks and most recently, the Sea Eagles by four points each time. Ryan Matterson will return from his grand final suspension, but they’ll need to improve drastically if they’re to claim their first win of the season.

The Panthers had the week off following their Round Two victory over the Rabbitohs and should be well-rested and ready to inflict more pain on the Eels’ season.

Suggested Bet: Same Game Multi

  • Leg 1: Penrith to win
  • Leg 2: Over 39.5 total points
  • Leg 3: B. To’o anytime scorer
  • Leg 4: C. Gutherson anytime scorer
  • Total: $11

Storm vs. Tigers

24th March 6:00pm

If you love supporting an underdog, look no further than the lowest-ranked team trying to record their win of the year against a Melbourne Storm side returning to Aami Park after successive losses. That’s what awaits the Wests Tigers.

While they are yet to win a game, the Tigers produced their best performance of the year in last weekend’s four-point loss to the Bulldogs and should carry that improved form into this one.

The Storm just needs to win, and Craig Bellamy’s men could not have asked for a better chance to return to form than a home game against the Tigers. Cameron Munster returns from a finger injury and should lead the Storm back into the winner’s circle.

Suggested Bet: C. Munster anytime try scorer @ $2.65

Dolphins vs. Broncos

24th March 8:00PM

The city of Brisbane is set to erupt this Friday when the Dolphins host the Broncos in a clash of the titans at Suncorp Stadium.

The top two sides – both undefeated – will do battle in the ultimate Q-Clash after the Dolphins maintained their unbeaten run with a 16-point victory over the Knights. They will be without Felise Kaufusi, who has four matches on the sidelines with suspension, but they’ll welcome back Origin prop Jarrod Wallace.

The Broncos have been a work of art so far this year and will be keen to stamp their authority over the league’s newbies. Kevin Walters had no injury concerns to deal with out of their 22-point drubbing of the Dragons, so there’ll no doubt be an air of confidence from the ‘older’ Queenslanders.

Suggested Bet: Dolphins (+10.5) @ $1.90

Cowboys vs. Titans

25th March 5:30PM

The North Queensland Cowboys are another team who would be ruing their start to the season as they sit in the 15th spot with one win and the worst points differential of any side (-25).

They will still enter this home clash as the $1.45 favourites, but they will need to improve upon their 14-point loss to the Warriors on Saturday. Reuben Cotter will miss after injuring his knee against the Warriors, replaced by Griffin Neame at prop.

The Titans bounced back from a disappointing showing against the Dragons with a four-point over the Storm. They’ll go into this game unchanged, with Alofiana Khan-Pereira and Aaron Schoupp hoping to replicate their doubles from the weekend.

Suggested Bet: Cowboys to win @ $1.45

Rabbitohs vs. Sea Eagles

25th March 7:35PM

The Rabbitohs haven’t quite hit their straps yet in 2023, and things don’t exactly get easier against the 2-0 Sea Eagles.

It was must-watch rugby in the Souths’ most recent outing against the Roosters, as they led by two points at half-time before going down by that same margin by the end of the game. They’ve been dealt a left, right, goodnight up forward with  Shaquai Mitchell and Tevita Tatola both sidelined through injury.

The Sea Eagles franked their Round One form with a thrilling four-point triumph over the Eels, and Anthony Seibold was that happy that he’s going in with an unchanged line-up. While they have been playing well to this point, the Bunnies will return to form at some point.

Suggested Bet: R. Garrick anytime try scorer @ $2

Warriors vs. Bulldogs

26th March 2:00PM

It’s a battle of fourth vs eighth when the Warriors host the Bulldogs, with both sides having enjoyed a 2-1 start to the season and a Round Three win.

In their latest encounter, the Warriors were more convincing than the Bulldogs, taking care of the Cowboys 12-26. Marcelo Montoya entered rare air when he ran for 246m and two touchdowns.

The Bulldogs celebrated over the weekend after holding off a fast-finishing Tigers outfit in Sydney. The scoreline was 26-6 at the 55-minute mark before relaxing on all fronts and giving up 16 unanswered points. However, there is no stress from the coaching staff as they go into this one unchanged.

Suggested Bet: Warriors to win @ $1.79

Knights vs. Raiders

26th March 4:05PM

Two more teams that share the same win-loss record, the Knights and Raiders, will meet in a vital clash whereby the loser falls to an unenviable 1-3 record.

It’s happy days for the Raiders as they welcome back Josh Papali’I from a calf injury one week after defeating Cronulla 24-20. Corey Horsburgh turned one on with two tries, while Tom Starling made a game-high 54 tackles.

The Knights – who had no answer for the Dolphins during their 20-36 loss – have named Daniel Saifiti after he suffered a shoulder injury last week. Jayden Brailey and Jack Johns are also set to strengthen their line-up.

Suggested Bet: H. Hunt anytime try scorer @ $2.25

Dragons vs. Sharks

26th March 6:15PM

Bringing up the rear of Round Four, the Cronulla Sharks have been heavily backed to return to their winning ways against St George Illawarra.

Currently trading at $1.51, the Sharks suffered their second loss of the season when they fell to the Raiders by four points. Things are looking up, though, with star halfback Nicho Hynes, set to return from a calf injury for his first game this season.

The Dragons will need to improve from their 22-point loss to the Broncos, whereby they gave up 32 of the last 34 points of the game – all in the second half.

Suggested Bet: Sharks to win @ $1.51
