The racing heats up this Saturday in Queensland as we head to Doomben for the massive QTIS Jewel meeting. With two $500,000 events on the card, this is one meeting racing fans cannot afford to miss!
Doomben Race 6
#1 Isotope
Isotope is a classy mare. She resumes after an indifferent spring; however, the significant class drop has her well-placed for a first-up tilt. Her fresh record must be respected, and she always runs well at Doomben. The 56kg is advantageous, and the Tony Gollan polish will attract market support.
Fetch was an impressive winner first-up. The Sebring mare savaged the line late, and the 1110m looks ideal second-up. She will get the run of the race from barrier two, and if the gaps open up on straightening, she will be hard to hold out.
Sweet Margot May is undefeated first-up. Her trial leading into this event was teasing, and I expect her to be fully wound up for Saturday’s event. The awkward barrier is the primary concern.
Suggested Bet: Isotope @ $3.10
Doomben RACE 7
#9 Trifling
Trifling is looking for a hat trick of wins! The Better Than Ready filly is flying this campaign, and she can win again from an inside draw. She is rock-hard fit, and the 1200m is her pet distance. With even luck in transit, I expect her to be in the finish.
Spin Doctor was impressive on debut. The Trapeze Artist gelding showed a massive turn of foot, and a repeat of his clock-breaking sectionals would see him figure in the shadows. Barrier eleven is the primary concern.
Rupert’s House looks talented. The Winning Rupert gelding will get the run of the race from an inside draw, and the 1200m is ideal for this stage of his preparation. He can win if he can take the next step in his racing career.
Suggested Bet: Trifling @ $6.00
Doomben Race 8
#16 Spirit Queen
I am happy to have a throw at the stumps with Spirit Queen. She only won her maiden two starts ago, however, she looks ultra-talented. I don’t think the penny has wholly dropped for the Spirit Of Boom filly, and she still has plenty of natural improvement to come. If she doesn’t get too far out of her ground early, she will be rounding up her rivals late.
All That Pizzazz will start favourite after a brave first-up win at Eagle Farm. The lightly raced three-year-old will strip fitter, and he will lead them a merry dance on top of the speed. He has previously raced well second-up, and if he gets his way in front, he may prove hard to run down. The awkward barrier is the biggest concern.
She’sgottheboom looks poised to the strike from barrier one. She visually looked a short-run first-up and will be ready for a peak performance on Saturday. She is undefeated second-up, and her track and distance record must be respected.
Suggested Bet: Spirit Queen @ $15.00
Doomben Race 9
#15 Da Party Gal
Da Party Gal can bounce back after a first-up flop. The Scissor Kick mare carried on like a pork chop at the barriers and completely bombed the start. She usually runs well second-up, and the 1350m is her favourite distance. The apprentice claim looks advantageous, and if she jumps even with the rest of the field, she can figure in the finish.
Lisztomania will start favourite after an impressive campaign to date. The Dream Ahead gelding looks versatile, and he is building a consistent career record. From barrier nine, I expect him to push forward, and if he can find the lead uncontested, the race may be over at the top of the straight.
Despite drawing the carpark, Bold And Lucy can figure. The Bold Attraction mare poses a massive turn of foot, and she can reel off sizzling sectionals for fun. Watch out for the big girl late!
Suggested Bet: Da Party Gal @ $9.00
