The Adelaide Cup is the feature event this public holiday Monday at Morphettville. The Morphettville Guineas is the perfect support act for a stellar nine-race program. With a capacity crowd expected, this is one meeting punters, and racing fans cannot afford to miss!
Morphettville Race 6
#10 Another Award
Another reward was eye-catching first-up from a spell. The Shamus Award mare has an excellent turn of foot, and she strips fitter here. Barrier three is advantageous, and her record at the distance is first-class. She usually races well second-up, and I expect a peak performance on Monday.
Philonize will start favourite after winning three consecutive races this campaign. The Reward For Effort mare deserves her shot at this level, and she should get the run of the race from an inside draw. Her record at the track is near perfect, and she has been well-supported in early betting.
Endlessly is in career-best form. The Sebring mare is putting a picket fence next to her name, and she will make her own luck on top of the speed. The awkward barrier is the primary concern.
Suggested Bet: Another Award @ $8.50
Morphettville Race 7
#13 Wagon Wheel
After falling out of the barriers, Wagon Wheel savaged the line at Moonee Valley last start. His form this campaign has been ultra-consistent, and the 3200m looks ideal for this stage of his preparation. From barrier three, he can camp on the leader’s back, and if the gaps appear on straightening, I expect him to figure in the finish.
Grand Promenade is ready to peak! The Champs Elysees gelding will relish the 3200m, and his two runs this campaign have been great without threatening. The one-time Melbourne Cup favourite doesn’t know how to run a bad race, and with the right run in transit, he could prove too strong late.
Persan looks poised to strike over his pet distance. The Pierro gelding is an owner’s dream, and this looks like a targeted assignment. His last run at Moonee Valley was teasing, and only bad luck in running will keep him out of the finish.
Suggested Bet: Wagon Wheel @ $23.00
Morphettville Race 8
#1 Dashing
Dashing was brilliant second-up at Sandown. The mile is advantageous, and the Magnus gelding should get a lovely run from a middle gate. He strips fitter after his recent outings, and I expect a peak run on Monday. He will make his own luck on top of the speed.
Thirsty Guest is flying! The So You Think gelding has put two impressive wins together this preparation, and he looks well placed from the plumb barrier draw. He looks progressive, and he deserves his chance at this level.
Stonecoat comes to the city of churches up and about after a dominant win at Gosford. The consistent Pierro gelding has the Gai Waterhouse polish, and I expect a bold showing third-up from a spell. If he can stay out of the speed battle early, he may be too strong for his rivals late.
Suggested Bet: Dashing @ $3.50
Morphettville Race 9
#5 Queman
Queman is racing in great spirit!
He looked the winner last start before being grabbed in the shadows by an inform galloper. The drop in grade is advantageous, and he excels at the track and distance. If the Mint Lane gelding can pinch some cheap sectionals on top of the speed, he may be home and hosed at the furlong!
Taunting has been crunched in early betting. His trial leading into this event was stunning; his first-up record speaks for itself. He loves the track and may be hard to hold out from an inside draw. The 60kg is the primary concern for the Brazen Beau gelding.
Point Blaze is a must for wider exotics. The Shamus Award mare races well at the track and usually races well fresh. This looks like her pet distance, and I expect her to make her presence felt in the shadows of the post. Her winning record is the primary concern.
Suggested Bet: Queman @ $7.00
