The Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes is the feature event on an attractive program this Saturday at Randwick. With the Group 1 Surround Stakes supporting the feature event perfectly, this is one meeting racing fans and punters cannot miss! Will anyone stop the Blue Army from dominating another time-honoured autumn race day?
Randwick Race 7
#1 In Secret
In Secret made a stunning return to racing first-up. She began poorly, she looked in trouble on straightening, but she found a way to win. The I Am Invincible filly is undefeated second up and is ideally drawn in barrier four. She is the real deal, and I expect her to add to her winning record on Saturday.
Despite the awkward barrier, Zougotcha is the most significant danger to the favourite. The Group 1 Flight Stakes winner put three wins together at the end of her last preparation, and she has beaten most of this field on multiple occasions. With the proper run in transit, she will be there when the whips are cracking. The recent setback back due to an elevated temperature is the primary concern.
The Golden Slipper winner Fireburn did enough first-up behind In Secret. She will appreciate the soft conditions, and if she can reproduce her autumn form from last year, she will be in the finish. Barrier thirteen is the biggest obstacle.
Suggested Bet: In Secret @ $2.15
RANDWICK RACE 8
#1 Anamoe
Australia’s best weight-for-age horse Anamoe will start favourite in the day’s feature event. He was given a perfect ride first-up, and he put his rivals to the sword late. His second-up record is near perfect, and I expect him to fight out the finish again. He strips fitter here, and he should get the run of the race from barrier three. The soft conditions are advantageous, and I expect his love affair with Randwick to continue on Saturday.
Hinged was brave first up behind Anamoe. She made her own luck on top of the speed and was only grabbed late by the “Big A”. From barrier four, she can push forward and control the tempo again, and she should strip fitter after her impressive fresh run. If she can pinch some cheap sectional in transit, she may prove hard to run down.
Fangirl doesn’t know how to run a bad race. She savaged the line first-up behind Anamoe fresh, and the mile second-up is advantageous. Barrier one will allow her to sit closer to the speed, and I can’t wait to watch her sprout wings late. She may need some luck on straitening.
Suggested Bet: Anamoe @ $1.70
Randwick Race 9
#4 Riodini
I am happy to have a throw at the stumps here with Riodini. The Gong winner can sprint well fresh and should save every inch of ground jumping from barrier one. His two teasing barrier trials leading into this event will have him cherry ripe, and if the gaps appear at the right time, he will be fighting out the finish.
Think About It will start favourite after an impressive win in a very strong race last start. The So You Think gelding is very progressive, and he is putting the picket fences next to his name. He can win again despite taking another step up in grade on Saturday. He looks well placed from an inside draw carrying 53kg.
Gravina was narrowly beaten first up. The soft conditions will suit, and he rarely runs a bad race. From a middle gate, I expect James Mcdonald to be positive early, and he is too consistent to leave out of winning conversations. He may look the winner as they come over the famous Randwick rise.
Suggested Bet: Riodini @ $9.00
randwick Race 10
#1 Never Talk
Never Talk can run well here at a decent price. She can produce fast closing sectionals; her first-up record speaks for itself. The apprentice claim is advantageous; she can sit closer to the speed from barrier one. Her overall winning record is the primary concern.
Kalino will start favourite after an impressive summer campaign. He should be rock hard fit, and he should get the ideal run from barrier three. The 1200m is his pet distance, and he can handle the Benchmark 88 opposition.
Sonora is flying. Her win last start turned heads, and the penny may have finally dropped for the talented mare by So You Think. She is progressive, and she can continue her winning ways on Saturday.
Suggested Bet: Never Talk @ $12.00
