NBA Friday Tips & Previews, 24th February

NBA action returns from the All Star break. Tips, previews and all you need for four blockbuster games of NBA, including the Cavaliers vs Nuggets and 76ers vs Grizzlies.

The cream of the crop is taking to the court in a jam-packed slate of NBA this Friday. BetDeluxe profiles four games.

Cavaliers vs. Nuggets

24th February 11:00am

In one of the most intriguing games on NBA Friday, the Cleveland Cavaliers will be looking to kick-start their post-All-Star run with a win over the Western Conference No. 1 seeds, Denver.

The Cavs are coming off a 118-112 loss to the 76ers in their last outing. Donovan Mitchell was dominant with 33 points alongside 27 from Darius Garland. Before the loss, the Cavs were on a seven-game winning streak.

It was almost as though the Nuggets were offended at the Suns’ new-found market favouritism in the West, defeating Dallas 118-109 on the back of a 14-point, 13-rebound and 10-assist triple-double from Nikola Jokic. The Joker now has 21 triples for the season.

Given the Cavs’ 25-6 home record, expect them to bounce out of the break with a win.

Suggested Bet: Same Game Multi

  • Leg 1: Cavs to win
  • Leg 2: D. Mitchell over 25.5 points
  • Leg 3: N. Jokic over 9.5 rebounds
  • Leg 4: M. Porter Jr over 15 points
  • Total: $6

76ers vs. Grizzlies

24th February 11:30AM

Another blockbuster match-up on the first day back, the Philadelphia 76ers will host the Memphis Grizzlies at home.

The 76ers are on a four-game winning streak after triumphing over the Cavs and ending their own seven-game run. Joel Embiid continued his MVP-caliber season with 29 points and 14 rebounds, while James Harden contributed 19 points and 12 assists. The two stars are on fire this season, with Embiid second in the league for points (33.1) and Harden first for assists (10.8).

The Grizzlies are flying in the second spot in the Western Conference, winning three of their past four games. They most recently defeated the Jazz 117-11 on the back of Ja Morant’s 29 points, eight rebounds and nine assists. Jaren Jackson Jr is piecing together a stellar season and leads the NBA in blocks (3.3).

Suggested Bet: 76ers to win @ $1.59

Jazz vs. Thunder

24th February 1:00PM

Will it be either Utah or OKC who goes one step closer to a spot in the Western Conference playoff picture?

The away side will enter with a real spring in their step after dismantling Houston last week, 133-96. It was a pure masterclass from the Thunder as they punched home 116 points in the first three quarters on the back of a 29-point outing from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The Thunder have won four of their past six as they try to close the gap on the Timberwolves and Warriors.

The Jazz certainly weren’t disgraced in their six-point loss to the Grizzlies, with Kelly Olynyk putting up a monster 28 points and 14 rebounds. After missing the Grizzlies match-up, Lauri Markkanen will return after dropping 13 points in the all-star game.

This could be either way, but we’re leaning towards the in-form Thunder at some value.

Suggested Bet: Thunder to win @ $2.12

Lakers vs. Warriors

24th February 2:00PM

Talking about teams who need a win, the Lakers and Warriors are both desperate for the W as they face the prospect of missing the playoffs.

The new-look Lakers team tasted success in their last game against the Pelican, with Anthony Davis scoring 28 points and leading them to a 120-102 victory. LeBron James and D’Angelo Russell both dropped 21 points each. LeBron continues to put up unbelievable numbers, with season averages of 30 points, 8.4 rebounds and 7 assists.

The Warriors fell 10 points short of the Clippers but will be buoyed by the 28-point display from Jordan Poole. It is the fourth time Poole has reached at least 21 from his last five games.

This is due to Steph Curry’s ongoing injury, which the Warriors say will sideline the superstar for at least another week.

Suggested Bet: Lakers (-4.5) @ $1.89
