The Group 2 Silver Slipper Stakes is the feature event on a mouthwatering racing program this Saturday at Rosehill. With a host of Group and Listed events supporting the feature race, the autumn has never looked so good!
Rosehill Race 4
#3 King's Gambit
King’s Gambit can bounce back here after being beaten first-up as a $1.28 favourite. Despite the race being well and truly out of reach at the furlong, he still hit the line nicely. From barrier four, he can sit closer to the speed, and if he sees daylight on straightening, he is the one to beat. The I Am Invincible colt will be fitter for his recent outing, and I expect the money to come for him late on Saturday.
Cylinder is resuming after a frustrating debut campaign. He was a moral beaten at Newcastle in his career debut, while he over-raced second-up and gave himself no chance of winning. His trial leading into this event was impressive, and he is a winning chance from the plumb barrier draw.
Fire Lane can make amends here after a rare last-start flop at the Gold Coast. Her previous form reads well for this event, and she should get the perfect run from a middle gate.
Suggested Bet: King’s Gambit @ $2.60
Rosehill RACE 6
#6 Roots
Mariamia will start odd-on favourite after putting two impressive wins together this preparation. The Toronado filly can continue on her winning ways with the good run in transit, and she looks well placed here at the weights. Her record at the trip, and third-up stats, are the primary concerns.
I am very bullish about Roots first-up from a spell. She had an excellent spring preparation, and I expect her to reach dizzy heights in the autumn. She is undefeated fresh and will be cherry ripe for Saturday after producing two teasing trials.
Sonora earns her shot at a decent race after putting her rivals to the sword last start at Randwick. The So You Think mare is progressing through her grades nicely, and I expect her to be thereabouts with a dream run from barrier one.
Suggested Bet: Roots @ $9.00
Rosehill Race 7
#10 King Frankel
King Frankel resumes here after an ultra-impressive spring. He has an excellent first-up record and should be ready to fire fresh after two business-like barrier trials. He is ideally weighted with 53kg, and Tyler Schiller has a winning association with the Frankel gelding. He has plenty of upside, and I am confident he has a vast autumn ahead of him.
Banju is a winning machine. He is chasing four wins on the trot and looks well-placed to continue on his winning ways. Despite his impressive form, he still sneaks past the handicapper with 54kg, and the middle gate should provide Kerrin Mcevoy options. Being untested at the distance is the biggest concern.
Sacramento looks over the odds after a teasing first-up run. He strips fitter here, and he usually runs well second-up. The inside barrier will give him every chance to run out an assertive 1900m, and his record at the track must be respected.
Suggested Bet: King Frankel @ $4.00
Rosehill Race 10
#2 Andermatt
Andermatt looks poised to strike third-up from a spell. He savaged the line second-up from a long way back, and the 1100m looks perfect for this preparation stage. The apprentice claim could prove a winning move, and I expect him to have the last crack at them. He looks well placed back in this grade.
Kote was brave in a strong race first up from a spell. He is a winner previously second-up, and he is ideally placed here with 52kg. The Choisir gelding can push forward from a middle gate, and he may prove hard to run down if he gets an easy time in front.
Midwest will start favourite after three impressive runs this campaign. He rarely runs a bad race, and his subsequent win is just around the corner. He looks well placed despite the rise to Benchmark 94 grade, and he should get the gun run from barrier three.
Suggested Bet: Andermatt @ $6.00
