Mid-week racing returns to Sandown this Wednesday afternoon. With the autumn carnival in full swing, who can stand up here and earn their shot at a Saturday feature meeting?

Sandown Race 5

#1 Dashing

Despite being drawn off the track, I am very bullish about Dashing first-up from a spell. The apprentice claim is advantageous, and his fresh record must be respected. The Magnus gelding is better than this grade, and I expect him to be in the finish with the right run in transit.

Cobblestone Way can continue his winning form after a brilliant performance at Moonee Valley last start. The Boulder City gelding has made an impressive start to his career, and the 1300m looks ideal for this stage of his preparation. Barrier 16 is the primary concern.

Gargantuan can run well here after a teasing run at Flemington fresh. He is undefeated second-up, and he is a massive threat from an inside draw. If he can see daylight on straightening, I expect him to be in the finish.

Suggested Bet: Dashing @ $8.50

Sandown RACE 6

#3 Lloyd's Crown

Lloyd’s Crown looks poised to strike third-up from a spell. From barrier one, the Rebel Dane gelding should get the dream run in transit, and the apprentice claim could prove a winning move. He savaged the line at his latest outing, and the 1000m is his pet distance. His track record must be respected.

Joseylin is too consistent to leave out of any winning conversations. The Pride Of Dubai mare hit the line nicely at Moonee Valley last start, and Daniel Stackhouse should have plenty of options from barrier three. She is well-weighted for this grade, and her next win is pretty close.

Tori’s Dee was great at Warrnambool first-up. He strips fitter here and can lead them a merry dance on top of the speed. The wide barrier is the biggest concern.

Suggested Bet: Lloyd’s Crown @ $19.00

Sandown Race 7

#4 Cuffe's Grange

Cuffe’s Grange is having a consistent preparation without winning. The Turffontein gelding looks well placed after the apprentice claim, and the 1800m looks ideal. If he can find a spot in the running line from the awkward barrier, he will be there when the whips are cracking.

The Claimant produced a dominant win at Cranbourne two starts back. He was ok without threatening at his latest outing, and I expect him to bounce back here from an inside draw. The 1800m is advantageous, and he is too talented to dismiss.

Bass can peak here third-up from a spell. He produced an improved run second-up, and this race is within his reach. If he can overcome his fear of the winning post, he is capable of surprising his more fancied rivals.

Suggested Bet: Cuffe’s Grange @ $18.00

Sandown Race 8

#7 Miso

Miso is flying this preparation. He was a brilliant last-start winner, and he looks well-placed to continue his winning ways. Ethan Brown can be positive from barrier ten, and I expect him to lead them a merry dance on top of the speed. He is rock hard fit, and he may prove hard to run down.

Deep Speed is running well without winning. He looks well placed in this grade, and the apprentice claim helps his case. It was an improved effort at Moonee Valley last start, and he should get the run of the race from barrier three. Wednesday’s performance could determine how far the Deep Field gelding progresses during the autumn.

Netanyahu is racing in great spirit. He has been in the placings all preparation and should be rock-hard fit. He produced an eye-catching run last start at Moonee Valley, and from inside draw, he may prove hard to hold out.

Suggested Bet: Miso @ $3.90
