The Scenic Blast Stakes is the feature event on a healthy card of racing at Ascot this Saturday. With the interstate raiders long gone, who will stand out amongst the locals and dominate the competitive program?
Ascot Race 6
#3 Memorable Miss
Memorable Miss is flying this preparation. She was butchered first-up before winning with a leg in the air at her latest outing. The 1500m is ideal, and local hero William Pike jumps aboard.
Ciscojoe can bounce back here after a disappointing start to his preparation. From an inside draw I expect an improved performance, and his best form puts him in the finish.
Birdieagle has been racing well in better races. If he handles the allocated 60kg, he will be in the finish. He was caught wide in-transit last start but never shirked the task. He is tough, versatile, and a must for all wider exotics and multiples.
Suggested Bet: Memorable Miss @ $3.50
Ascot RACE 7
#8 Miss Field
Miss Field can win here despite the wide draw. She bolted in fresh before being beaten in a photo at her latest outing. She will drift back from the gate, and I can’t wait to see her savage the line. She may need some luck with her pattern of racing.
Cash Away will start favourite after racing consistently this preparation. He doesn’t win out of turn, however this is his easiest assignment in a while. An inside draw and William Pike aboard will attract market support, and the 1200m looks ideal for this stage of his preparation.
Magic To Exceed looks ready to win. He has been ultra-consistent this campaign without winning. The apprentice claim is advantageous, and his record at the distance must be respected.
Suggested Bet: Miss Field @ $4.60
Ascot Race 8
#1 How's The Serenity
How’s The Serenity looks the best bet on a very competitive program. She has put two Listed wins together this preparation, and she maybe too sharp for her opposition. The 59kg is the major concern.
Long Beach can run well here despite the double figure quote. He savaged the line in the Miss Andretti, and he looks well placed with 54kg. The 1200m is perfect, and I expect a peak run third-up from a spell.
Phanta always runs well fresh. His trial leading into this event was first-class, and from an inside draw he will be hard to hold out. This is his biggest test to date, however I expect him to run well.
Suggested Bet: How’s The Serenity @ $2.30
Ascot Race 9
#1 Corn Cob
Corn Cob can win again after a breakthrough victory at Ascot. He was brave sitting on top of the speed, and the 1800m looks ideal at this stage of his preparation. He meets a similar field here, and I expect him to be in the finish again.
Casino Seventeen will start around the even money mark after promising the world and delivering an atlas for favourite punters this campaign. She has been beaten as a short-priced favourite at her last three outings, and I have my concerns for her Saturday. With her track and distance record, She can win without me.
Piccola Signora can run well here if she recaptures her mojo. She is talented but frustrating to follow. From an inside draw I expect an improved performance.
Suggested Bet: Corn Cob @ $6.00
