Sandown is home to an excellent twilight meeting this Wednesday. With eight competitive races on the card, find out who our experts are tipping to dominate the mid-week program. Can anyone stop the Peter Moody and Ciaron Maher stables?

Sandown is home to an excellent twilight meeting this Wednesday. With eight competitive races on the card, find out who our experts are tipping to dominate the mid-week program. Can anyone stop the Peter Moody and Ciaron Maher stables?

Sandown Race 5

#1 Ruggiero

Ruggiero looks like an outstanding chance on the quick backup. He savaged the line last start and produced some of the fastest sectionals of the meeting. He should get every chance from barrier five to record another much-deserved victory.

New Level will get the dream run from barrier one. He won well on debut at Terang, and the promising colt is expected to go through his grades over the coming months.

Dennis Choux looks over the odds. His two career starts have been solid, and he looks well-placed here. The 59.5kg and wide barrier are the main concerns. He is a must for all wider exotics.

Suggested Bet: Ruggiero @ $3.30

Sandown RACE 6

#6 Mt Niseko

The Maher and Eustace camp looks to have a mortgage on this race! The stablemates Pacific Ruby and Calico Jack are sitting on top of the betting market, looking incredibly hard to beat. Both are last-start winners and are expected to handle the benchmark 64 level. The trainer and jockey combinations may have the pair slightly under the odds.

I am happy to be with Mt Niseko from the Hayes stable. He won impressively first-up at Geelong and looks well placed here, jumping from barrier four. The 1300m is ideal second-up, and he should get the run of the race sitting on the back of the leaders. He represents excellent each-way value.

Richter can run well at double-figure odds. He flew home late at Wangaratta fresh, and this grade is within the gelding by Skilled.

Suggested Bet: Mt Niseko @ $5.00

Sandown Race 7

#1 Capital Express

Capital Express can win here, dropping down significantly in grade. She was good in a hot race at Flemington last start, and she looks the class runner in a moderate field. From barrier six, Damien Oliver will have options; with the right run, she will be hard to hold out.

Benedetta will start favourite after scorching the turf last start at Cranbourne. The Hellbent filly has a massive engine, and she only needs to reproduce her electric turn of foot to be in the finish.

Fast Star will run well despite jumping from an awkward alley. She was good fresh at Kyneton, and I expect her to be in the finish after a little freshening up.

Suggested Bet: Capital Express @ $10.00

Sandown Race 8

#12 Edith

The Peter Moody trained Edith will start favourite in the last event on the program. The mare by Written Tycoon is resuming after a solid debut preparation, and she is expected to fly fresh. She will be hard to beat if Jamie Kah can find a spot in the running line.

Indifference needs to bounce back after a last-start failure. The son of Kermadec is starting to become expensive to follow after promising the world and delivering an atlas. The apprentice claim puts him in the mix.

Luna Diva can run well here at cricket score odds. The win at Benalla last start was good, and I expect her to be competitive if she can overcome the tricky barrier draw.

Suggested Bet: Edith @ $3.80
