FIFA World Cup Semi Finals – Tips & Previews

The race is down to four for the World Cup and BetDeluxe has looked at all the form and trends ahead of two big semi finals.

A fascinating semi-final stage will decide who will play off to win the World Cup.

BetDeluxe looks at the two semi-finals to find the winners and key contributors.

Argentina vs. Croatia

14th December 6:00AM

Both these teams are more than familiar with advancing this far in World Cups, with Croatia the most recent to be in a semi-final, winning through to the final in 2018.

Neither has gotten there the easy way, with both countries having to win through on penalties to make it through, so it will be interesting to see how they both bounce back.

Croatia has plenty of experience and know-how. Luka Modric and Marcelo Brozovic have been attacking in the middle and up forward, while we may see a more prominent role for Bruno Petkovic after his late goal coming off the bench in the win over Brazil.

They are missing defender Josip Stanisic with a thigh injury, which makes them vulnerable to the attacking Argentinian side.

Lionel Messi is the clear star in the Argentina team, and he showed the way in the quarter-final win against the Netherlands with a cool head when needed. Throw in Julian Alvarez and Lautaro Martinez, and it’s a big task to bring down the South American powerhouses.

Argentina’s Achilles heel may be their overall composure under pressure. Emotions boiled over at times in the quarter-final, with some key players set to miss after being carded.

They need to keep their eyes on the bigger prize, winning through to the final, which would be the perfect swansong to Messi’s career and the proud country’s first World Cup win since the famous 1986 victory over Germany.

Suggested Bet: Same game multi
Leg 1: Argentina to win
Leg 2: Lionel Messi to score
Leg 3: Julian Alvarez to score
Leg 4: Total corners over 4.5
Total: $7.50

France vs. Morocco

15th December 6:00AM

France has a solid claim to being the most exciting country at the World Cup and has dazzled fans and opponents alike with their flair and prevision.

Kylian Mbappe has cemented his reputation as the best player in the world, but he had a brief lapse against England in the quarters. Look for him to bounce back even stronger, working with Olivier Giroud and Aurélien Tchouaméni to convert early and set the tone.

Their defense has a few vulnerabilities, and the line-up may be adjusted to minimise any opportunities for Morocco.

They might be the outsiders here, but that is a comfortable position for a Moroccan team that has seen off both Portugal and Spain in its past two matches.

Yassine Bounou has been rock solid in goals, though he will have more to put up with in this match than any others.

Further up the field, Sofyan Amrabat and Youssef En-Nesyri have been dominant, with both looking to impact here.

Morocco has been the cinderella story, becoming the first African nation to reach a semi-final. But this might be as far as the story goes, with France winning this one.

Suggested Bet: Same game multi
Leg 1: Woodwork to be hit at least once
Leg 2: France to win
Leg 3: Kylian Mbappe to score
Leg 4: Olivier Giroud to score
Total: $9.00
