Racing heads to Warrnambool Sunday for the sensational Jericho Cup meeting. This program has gained momentum in the last couple of years and cemented its spot on the racing calendar. Can anyone stop local trainer Symon Wilde, who looks to have the feature race at his mercy with the inform Bazini?
Warrnambool Race 6
#2 Gunna Gunna
Gunna Gunna looks well placed here after running well first up at Moonee Valley. She races well second up, and she is ideally drawn in a middle gate. The soft conditions won’t be an issue, nor will the 1200m.
Star Spirit will start favourite after an impressive autumn campaign. She races well first up and has been well specked in early betting.
Scientific looks over the odds after narrowly missing out on a hattrick of victories.
Suggested Bet: Gunna Gunna @ $5.00
Warrnambool RACE 7
#5 Mask Up
The Real Impact gelding Mask Up can win resuming. He is undefeated fresh, and from barrier 2, he should get his chance to remain unbeaten first up. Harry Coffey has a good association with the Symon Wilde-trained galloper, who looks good value in a race of few chances.
Stripped Back will start favourite despite being allocated 60.5kg. He is a major player here with form around Sacred Palace and Ashford Street.
Raging Monkey looks good each-way value after putting two solid victories together. He will sit on top of the speed and look for the winner at the 300m mark.
Suggested Bet: Mask Up @ $5.00
Warrnambool Race 8
#2 Bazini
A race for fitness fans. 4600m of pure strength, courage, resilience, and stamina! A great event recreating the first-ever Jericho Cup held by our mounted troops in Palestine during World War 1. This race aims to preserve the service men’s fighting spirit and their mounts, sacrifices, and bravery.
Despite drawing barrier, 17 Bazini looks to have a stranglehold on this race. He was brilliant from the tail the last start at Sandown, and he should peak here third up from a spell. He handles all conditions, and he is putting a very respectable preparation together.
Alienated won well at Moonee Valley last start over 3870m. The nine-year-old is still enjoying racing, and I expect this race has been a long-range target.
The Rattlin’ Bog is a tough-on-pace customer. He will be thereabouts.
Suggested Bet: Bazini @ $4.00
Warrnambool Race 9
#1 Stylish Enuff
A competitive race to finish a great meeting.
The lightly raced Head’em will start favourite after impressing in both of his outings. He is still learning his craft, but I expect him to be competitive in this grade.
I am happy to be with Stylish Enuff, who will get every chance from barrier 1. He has dropped significantly in grade, and he will ensure plenty of speed up front. Linda Meech is a positive; 63.5 kg is the challenge.
Euro Dandy can win here fresh. His form last preparation puts him into winning conversations.
Suggested Bet: Stylish Enuff @ $7.00
