Spring racing continues this Friday night at Moonee Valley. Despite Melbourne Cup week coming to a close, there is still plenty of quality racing on offer!
Moonee Valley Race 1
#6 Will to excel
Jukila was sensational first up at Bendigo. Despite being on the wrong side of eight, the gelding still loves racing. The distance won’t be a problem, and the son of Lucas Cranach can find a forward position from the draw.
The Rattlin’ Bog was too strong late last start at Gawler. The soft conditions will suit, as will the rise in distance. A solid chance in an open race.
Will To Excel will peak here. He hit the line strongly last start from a long way back. The High Chaparral gelding will eat up every inch of the 3870m on offer.
Suggested Bet: Will To Excel @ $8.00
Moonee Valley RACE 3
#8 dUSSE
Dusse was impressive first up at Sale. She showed an electric turn of foot to get the money. This doesn’t look any harder, and despite the wide draw, she is the one to beat. She seems to have a future, and she is well-placed here.
Rastelli needs to be respected with her record at 1000m. She put two wins together before heading to the paddock last preparation. She can threaten here despite carrying the top weight.
Night Of Delight was disappointing last start. The drop in grade helps, as does the soft conditions.
Capital Express and Sharwin will be competitive.
Suggested Bet: Dusse @ $2.30
Moonee Valley Race 6
#10 Red Card
Midnight Charm was a dominant winner at Mornington last start. She looks hard to beat from the perfect draw, and she looks to have plenty of upside.
Red Card was another last start winner. The win at Hawkesbury was effortless, and that form has been franked since. She looks speedy, and she will give a good sight on top of the speed. She looks the odds.
Boss Lady Rocks won well here last start. She probably prefers the track to be softer, but she can win again.
Mojo Music can bounce back after a luckless run in transit last start.
Suggested Bet: Red Card @ $5.50
Moonee Valley Race 7
#3 Za'EX
Za’ex will be hard to beat over the 2040m. Both runs back from a spell have put the writing on the wall for a third up-peak run. He will get every chance to run over them late with the amount of pace expected upfront. Watch for him late!
The obvious danger to Za’ex is the inform Claidheamh Mor. The preparation has been near perfect, and the form around Horrifying is impressive.
La Spezia and Pearl Rain go into all wider exotics. Both are racing well and are coming off last-start victories.
Suggested Bet: Za’ex @ $18.00
