The Flemington carnival continues Thursday with Oaks Day. Can anyone beat the favourite She’s Extreme in the feature event on ladies’ day?
Flemington RACE 3
#8 Roots
Roots looks well placed back in grade after being luckless at Moonee Valley. The daughter of Press Statement is building a nice career record, and this looks like a very winnable race. The Flemington straight will suit.
Rocha Clock can win second up from a spell coming off a forgive run. Great record at the track and distance. The danger to the favourite.
Sur La Mer looks classy. If she can get back to her best form, she will be in the finish.
Suggested Bet: Roots @ $2.50
Flemington Race 6
#5 Joyful Fortune
Joyful Fortune ran well in The Everest against the best sprinters in the country. It was a high-pressure race where he was brave on top of the speed. His win two starts back at Flemington was breathtaking. It is still fresh in the minds of racing fans.
Zoustyle has been well supported in early betting. The Tony Gollan-trained gelding is putting an excellent campaign together, including a last-start third behind the talented Paulele at Caulfield.
Athelric was disappointing last start, but he can bounce back. 1000m is a real positive, as is the class drop.
Competitive race!
Suggested Bet: Joyful Fortune @ $3.50
Flemington Race 8
#1 She's Extreme
She’s Extreme was luckless in The Group 1 Spring Champion. The form around her is significant, with The VRC Derby winner and runner-up coming through the Spring Champion. She is drawn perfectly in barrier 1 and has the class to win. Proven Group 1 filly who looks hard to beat.
Renaissance Women is also coming through the Spring Champion, where she beat The Derby winner. Her win two starts back at Caulfield was stunning, and she shouldn’t have trouble running an assertive 2500m.
Makrana is over the odds. She was well beaten in The Group 2 Wakeful Stakes on Saturday, however, she did hit the line nicely from a long way back. Not the worst $41 chance.
Suggested Bet: She’s Extreme @ $2.60
Flemington race 9
#18 greece
Greece can win here after an impressive maiden victory at Geelong. The penny has finally dropped, and she can take the next step. She is currently second emergency, so her fate may rely on late scratchings.
English Riviera was a smart winner at Caulfield last start. She timed her run perfectly and she was brave late. The soft ground is a big advantage.
Troach can bounce back after a disappointing run. She was great two starts back at Moonee Valley in a very hot form race.
I’mlovin’ya is the value runner. She hasn’t won this preparation, however this looks a winnable race. She is a useful type closing in on her next victory.
Suggested Bet: Greece @ $4.00
