The Golden Eagle meeting at Rosehill Gardens is the feature meeting for Sydney racing this Saturday.
Who can take home the cash on a day when prize-money exceeds the $10 million dollar mark?
Rosehill Race 6
#8 Quality Time
Winners keep winning, and I expect Quality Time to continue the winning streak here. From barrier 1, Tommy Berry can be positive and set up the race early. He handles all conditions and should be fresh enough after a little break. 54kg is a luxury, and he is the one to beat.
Stockman broke through for a much-deserved win last start. Despite drawing barrier 13 and needing to carry 59.5kg, he can figure here. The son of Tavistock loves the track, loves the distance, and handles the sting out of the ground. In the mix.
Honeycreeper looks poised but will need luck from barrier 15, while Yonkers and Polly Grey rarely run bad races.
Suggested Bet: Quality Time @ $4.60
ROSEHILL RACE 7
#7 LOST AND RUNNING
Lost And Running looked poised to be competitive in The Everest before a last-minute setback. The way the race worked out, he may have won. Last start, he looked fat in the yard, but he was still too good for some quality horses, including Mazu, who nearly pinched The Everest. He is bigger and stronger and has turned into a serious horse. This looks like his race.
Mazu will be in the finish if he has come through The Everest run ok. It was a brilliant run for a horse who has come on leaps and bounds in the last 12 months. I prefer Private Eye to be racing at Randwick, but he can’t be dismissed after his previous two breathtaking performances.
Suggested Bet: Lost And Running @ $2.70
Rosehill Race 8
#12 Light Infantry
You want to own a runner in this race with $10 million up for grabs!
Intrigued by the former international Light Infantry. He brings some serious Group 1 French form with him that looks superior. He has had a little freshen-up after mixing it with some of the best sprinter milers in the world. He could blow these away. His regular jockey has followed him here for a tilt at the big prize on offer.
Jamie Kah missing Derby Day at Flemington to ride at Rosehill is a good push for Chain Of Lightning. She is flying and does look to have the best form and most upside out of the local contingency. In The Congo can win third up from a spell.
Suggested Bet: Light Infantry @ $4.00
Rosehill Race 9
#12 Danish Prince
Another ‘pop race’. This time there is $500,000 up for grabs for horses that race at Benchmark level. Great for the owners and all associated with the final field.
Happy to have a ‘throw at the stumps” on Danish Prince, who is resuming after a couple of nice barrier trials. Can surprise at double-figure odds in a very wide open field.
Kayobi will get a lovely run in transit from the draw. He was great first up and has form around a couple of handy gallopers. The one to beat, but he is short enough in the market. Mahagoni is a must for exotics.
Suggested Bet: Danish Prince @ $21
