Sandown Tips & Previews, Wednesday 27th July

We return to Sandown Hillside for Wednesday's metro meeting in Melbourne as the Punter's Prince delivers his best bets and value plays.

We are expecting a wet and heavy track at Sandown with the rain likely to settle in for the majority of the day.

The Punter’s Prince is narrowing in on horses who look race fit and can handle the dip into the surface.

With the rail out 14 metres, you expect horses on the speed to be well fancied, but some horses can sling shot out into the golden wider lanes, so keep an eye on the pattern.

sandown race 1

#5 attrition

Mitchell Freedman has not mucked around here and has acquired the services of Jamie Kah for this two-year-old colt after a luckless debut.

Love the way this juvenile horse powered to the line at Murray Bridge when he saw daylight.

Suggested Bet: Attrition win at $4

Confidence Rating: 7/10

sandown race 2

#3 Chatelaine

Chatelaine has progressed through the grades very nicely this preparation and her first ever run over 2400 metres last week should see her come on beautifully for this race.

Patrick Payne just keeps training winners and this mare looks as though she will continue his amazing record.

Suggested Bet: Chatelaine win at $3.80

Confidence Rating: 7/10

sandown race 4

#4 twist of fury

A genuine 1000-metre horse who will ping to the lead and try to run them into the ground.

Has two very sharp wins at this track and distance from three starts and looks the goods in this race at an each-way price.

Suggested Bet: Twist Of Fury each-way at $6.5 the win and $2.40 the place (No Third Dividend)

Confidence Rating: 5.5/10

sandown race 7

#7 van roy

Has had three solid jump outs to get him ready for the first-up assignment over 1400 metres.

Should have enough of a fitness base to run strongly enough to win the race and Ben Melham riding gives us enough confidence this horse will be screwed down.

Suggested Bet: Van Roy each-way at $7.5 the win and $2.6 the place.

Confidence Rating: 5/10

sandown race 8

#14 grand rock

Was acquired from NSW by little-known trainer Roberta Macleod who now saddles this horse up for a third-up run.

Looks ready to run well after two pass-mark efforts at Donald and Ballarat over unsuitable distances and race shapes.

Should relish the wet track and comes up big odds..

Suggested Bet: Grand Rock each-way at $20 the win and $5.5 the place.

Confidence Rating: 4.5/10
