Horse Racing Tips

Geelong Tips & Previews, Friday 1st July

Friday racing from Geelong sees the Punter's Prince finds the best bets and tips on the nine-race card leading into a big weekend of racing.

Geelong hosts nine races ahead of Friday racing in the lead-up to a big weekend from headquarters at Flemington.

The Punter’s Prince is ready to throw a few haymakers with a few bullish bets from the card down the highway.

geelong race 2

#5 kikuyu

Kikuyu resumed very nicely at Mornington over 1200 metres on a heavy surface when settling in the second spot and holding on for fourth.

He looks a horse who is going to appreciate the extra distance, and with the claimer in, Matt Chadwick, taking the ride, the additional three kilos off the back will help.

He has options from the inside gate where he can kick up and lead or put enough pressure on the favourite from the middle barrier to take a sit.

Stable is in good form as well.

Suggested Bet: Kikuyu win at $3.4

Confidence Rating: 6.5/10

geelong race 3

#10 soho queen

Soho Queen is a beautifully-bred filly by champion sire So You Think.

She nearly pinched her debut race over 1300 metres when trying hold stave off Girello, but just found the going a bridge too far.

She was only beaten a half length, will take a plenty of benefit from the run and maps to lead this race easily.

Suggested Bet: Soho Queen win at $1.95

Confidence Rating: 9/10

geelong race 5

#7 colombe d'or

Ciaron Maher & Dave Eustace might have landed themselves another smart filly here in the form of Colombe D’or.

She surged to the line very sharply when winning in fine style on debut over 1412 metres and rises in trip to a suitable 1700-metre event.

Plenty of upside and should get a nice run from the barrier.

Suggested Bet: Colombe D’or win at $2.90

Confidence Rating: 8.5/10

geelong race 7

#2 national choice

National Choice has only had one start at the track; it was his smart debut win in 2020.

He has not won a race since, but returning to the surroundings of where he last won might spark him into form, and his run upon resumption at Sale was solid enough to suggest he can win this.

I just hope he does not settle too far back from the barrier.

Suggested Bet: National Choice each way at $5.5 the win and $1.75 the place.

Confidence Rating: 4/10

Geelong race 9

#8 telecaster

Broke his maiden with intelligence when bolting in at Cranbourne over 1400 metres.

Drawn beautifully in this race, Daniel Moor retains the ride and, being by Vanbrugh, this horse should handle the conditions if they are wet and heavy.

Suggested Bet: Telecaster win at $2.70

Confidence Rating: 7/10
