Flemington Tips & Previews, Saturday 18th June

Racing returns to Flemington for Saturday's metropolitan meeting at headquarters and the Punter's Prince is ready to fire his best shot ahead of the best bets.

The Saturday set has been in red-hot form of late.

Five of the last six best bets from the Punter’s Prince have lobbed and he is keen to find more winners.

flemington race 1

#7 saracen knight

Low confidence race.

I am going with Saracen Knight, who is building towards peak fitness.

He is third-up now and will enjoy the rise to 2500 metres at his home track.

Damien Oliver and Danny O’Brien combined for a winner at Sandown, so we might try to get ahead of the potential trend.

Suggested Bet: Saracen Knight each way at $5 the win and $2 the place.

Confidence Rating: 3/10

flemington race 2

#8 grand pope

Unlucky not to have finished much closer behind Diamonds when resuming from a spell.

He seems to enjoy straight racing and has an intense finishing burst capable of winning this.

Gets a good weight swing of Diamonds as well.

Suggested Bet: Grand Pope win at $3

Confidence Rating: 7/10

flemington race 3

#8 anphina

Track and distance form stacks up for this race.

Linda Meech should be able to get her going from the gates, and finding the front will likely be the aim.

Hard to beat if Meech can control proceedings out in front, and there is a fitness benefit gained from the last run.

Suggested Bet: Anhpina win at $3.70

Confidence Rating: 5/10

flemington race 4

#6 galgani

This is a bit of a speed map bet.

Galgani was run off her legs over 1100 metres when resuming and was never a winning hope after settling too far back.

From a better barrier and in a slower run race than she encountered first-up, she can lead this field up and give a good sight at odds.

Suggested Bet: Galgani each way at $13 the win and $3.60 the place.

Confidence Rating: 4.5/10

flemington race 5

#4 karacasu

Taking on Star Patrol and going with South Australian raider Karacasu.

The sprinting form he possesses out of Adelaide looks like it will stack up in this race.

Drawn to be in the right part of the track.

Suggested Bet: Karacasu each way at $6.5 the win and $2 the place.

Confidence Rating: 5/10

flemington race 6

#8 zoist

Zoist has been the victim of some horror luck from wide barrier draws.

He keeps getting too far back in his runs and leaving too much of a gap to make up to find winning form.

With Jye Mcneil hopping aboard from a cushy barrier, expect a better performance.

Can win.

Suggested Bet: Zoist each way at $5.5 the win and $2.10 the place.

Confidence Rating: 5/10

flemington race 7

#6 oceana blue

Possibly the most challenging race on the card.

Landed on Oceana Blue with no spruik.

She comes out a stock-standard winter handicap race and will probably be better off getting up in the distance, as she does here, rather than copping a drop back like she did last start.

Suggested Bet: Oceana Blue win at $3.4

Confidence Rating: 2/10

flemington race 8

#7 visinari

It could be a Group 1 horse.

He puts himself up on the speed and has a big engine.

Starting to put together an impressive resume’ in Australia since arriving from France.

After a decisive win at Sandown last weekend, he can continue his winning ways here.

Suggested Bet: Visinari win at $2.90

Confidence Rating: 7/10

flemington race 9

#8 zorros dream

It has a very similar starting price to Express Pass when they last went head-to-head up the straight.

Now we are getting over double the price for Zorros Dream, about a fitter horse who finds himself in a winnable race.

It gets in on the minimum and is worth an each-way ticket.

Suggested Bet: Zorros Dream each way at $9 the win and $3 the place.

Confidence Rating: 8/10
