Wangaratta Tips & Previews, Thursday 16th June

Wangaratta hosts Thursday racing in Victoria as the Punter's Prince finds all the best bets on the eight-race program.

Eight races to go through for the Punter’s Prince.

He has found the runners which pique his interest on the card Wangaratta for Thursday racing.

An each-way play at double figures rears itself in race seven.

wangaratta race 2

#3 Comanche North

Did a bit wrong on debut when caught out wide.

Hammered the line late in the race behind the leader and eventual winner.

Returns to country level and gets senior jockey Daniel Stackhouse.

Suggested Bet: Comanche North win at $3

Confidence Rating: 7/10

wangaratta race 3

#5 poker scene

This should be a short but sweet type of situation.

Poker Scene debuted at Wangaratta over 1100 metres and was caught in the ruck behind horses.

Got out and hit line nicely to suggest 1300 metres at the same track from a wide barrier is ideal.

Good form reference through Meridius and Lunar Solar, who have run well out of that race.

Suggested Bet: Poker Scene win at $2.10

Confidence Rating: 8.5/10

wangaratta race 4

#11 polite applause

It might pay to take the race-to-race double with the Patrick Payne runners.

Polite Applause comes off a strong returning run over 1400 metres and now finds herself getting to the mile.

She will appreciate the middle pin and have space to launch her finishing burst.

Suggested Bet: Polite Applause win at $2.45

Confidence Rating: 7.5/10

wangaratta race 6

#5 squami

Squami drops back to BM-64 country-level racing from a Cranbourne Class 2 over 1400 metres on May 20.

His last effort in BM-64 class was a runner-up effort behind Do Ya Punk, which looks like a strong form reference for a race of this calibre.

He is fully fit and should be able to handle the wet going.

Suggested Bet: Squami each way at $5 the win and $2 the place.

Confidence Rating: 5/10

wangaratta race 7

#6 swift hit

Warming to the form of Swift Hit.

He was planted wide with no cover at Echuca over 1100 metres and lugged in under pressure.

He gets a more spirited ride with Teodore Nugent booked, and the nose roll goes on to keep the head carriage straight and intact.

Suggested Bet: Swift Hit each way at $13 the win and $3.60 the place.

Confidence Rating: 7/10
