Thursday night football is back as we head into Round 13 of the AFL Premiership season.
Richmond and Port Adelaide get the show on the road, while traditional rivals Carlton and Essendon lead us into the weekend.
Richmond vs. Port Adelaide
june 9th 7:20pm
Richmond will try to build on its 6-5 tally when it begins its second half of the season with a Thursday night fixture against Port Adelaide at the MCG.
The Tigers could welcome back a trio of stars in the form of Noah Balta, Kane Lambert and Marlion Pickett.
Richmond will be super keen to rebound off a controversial six-point loss against Sydney in Round 11, while Port Adelaide needs to get a wriggle on if it is any hope of keeping its faint finals chance alive.
Ken Hinkley’s held on for a dogged win against Essendon at Adelaide Oval and will be refreshed after the bye week.
Injuries have belted Port’s season to the brink of no return, but with Charlie Dixon just starting to hit some form after his return from an ankle injury, the visitors could prove a headache to get over.
Backing Port to cover the line as they look to have a big second half of 2022.
Suggested Bet: Port Adelaide +12.5 at $1.90
Suggested Same Game Multi:
Leg 1: Port Adelaide +12.5
Leg 2: Total points under 156.5
Leg 3: C. Dixon 2+ goals
Leg 4: T. Boak 25+ disposals
Combined odds = $7.50
carlton vs. essendon
june 10th 7:50pm
In its 150th year of existence, Essendon welcomes Carlton to the MCG for its anniversary celebration with a big Friday night fixture.
Essendon gets Carlton at the right time with the Blues battling a heap of injuries to star players all over the park.
Namely, Jacob Weitering will miss this match and the next month with an AC joint, while Harry McKay is a long-odds chance to return from meniscus surgery.
We saw how vulnerable the Carlton backline was without Weitering, but new recruit Sam Durdin might be able to plug the hole left by the star fullback.
Jake Stringer is a chance to return for Essendon, while Matthew Kennedy is certain to prove his fitness from a corky which kept him out of the loss against Collingwood.
The problem for Essendon is its rotten state of affairs behind closed doors.
With an internal review of the club’s football operations announced and a year of poor form on the field, it is hard to see Essendon plucking a win against a Carlton outfit full of belief, despite being low on key personnel.
The wet weather predicted will probably suit the contested beasts within the Carlton midfield as well.
Essendon should be able stick with Carlton throughout, but expect the Baggers to rebound off their tight loss against Collingwood.
Suggested Bet: Carlton -18.5 at $1.90
Suggested Same Game Multi:
Leg 1: Carlton -18.5
Leg 2: Total points under 166.5
Leg 3: C. Durdin 2+ goals
Leg 4: G. Hewett 25+ disposals
Combined odds = $11
