With a wallet full of winners and the chest puffed out, the Punter’s Prince strides into a new week of racing.
Ballarat synthetic track is where we situated ourselves for Monday racing as the Prince takes us through all the best bets.
Ballarat Race 1
#3 On the Record
You can put her first preparation in the bin.
The three-year-old filly was abysmal in her only two runs to date, but she had plenty of excuses.
She had respiratory issues at her first start and then copped a bog-heavy track at Cranbourne.
Her jump out this time in has indicated she has come back a sound horse and the Freedman stable has applied the blinkers to get concentrating.
She will settle back in the field by the looks of it and can be the sniper who picks off the odds-on favourite in Precious Socks.
Suggested Bet: On The Record win at $4.4
Suggested Exotic: Quinella 3 & 5
ballarat race 2
#10 wind dreamer
I am going for another maiden runner and settling with Wind Dreamer.
The three-year-old filly trained by Matt Cumani has been given time through her first two preparations to mature into her frame.
She jumped out nicely behind an intelligent type of Tony & Calvin McEvoy’s when being ridden out in the last 150 metres.
I think she will be more assertive in this race’s concluding stages than Carmen Lucia’s main rival.
Suggested Bet: Wind Dreamer win at $3.30
Suggested Exotic: Exacta 10 & 5
Ballarat race 3
#4 disapperance
Siding in the corner of the fresh horse on the scene in the form of Disappearance.
The four-year-old mare trained by gun horseman Tom Dabernig has had a handful of jump-outs and trials to prepare herself for her debut.
Her most recent effort was an 1100-metre effort at Ballarat synthetic when she was asked to respond under light riding for the majority of the straight.
She now has a solid fitness base to run a good race on debut and draws a barrier that should her get an easy run in transit.
I was going to make her the best of the day.
I think she plenty more to give than what we have seen on public exposure.
Suggested Bet: Disappearance win at $3.4
ballarat race 6
#5 prince of eagles
Very surprised to see long odds about Prince Of Eagles.
He was thrashed on debut in a BM-84 Warrnambool behind his very smart stablemate in Tuvalu, but you can put a line through that run.
Lindsey Smith subsequently spelled him, and he seems to have come back in perfect nick.
Two jump-outs leading into this resuming run have been solid, and his overseas form reads superbly for this.
All his wins in Britain were on synthetic surfaces, so he does like this going.
It has to be worth a play.
Suggested Bet: Prince Of Eagles each way at $10 for the win and $3.3 for the place
Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 2, 3, 5, 6
