Mornington Tips & Previews, Tuesday 24th May

The best bets and tips from Mornington ahead of Tuesday racing.

Tuesday racing takes us at to Mornington for the best bets and tips from the Punter’s Prince at BetDeluxe.

The best of the day comes up in race five.

mornington race 2

#8 devil's fiddle

We get a strong form line through Devil’s Fiddle off her jump-outs.

The three-year-old filly, who is yet to race, jumped out behind the Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr. Galloper Sunfall is a BM-70 winner in its own right.

That is a very strong reference for a stock-standard maiden sprint.

This filly jumped out nicely on two occasions and showed a response when being ridden under a bit of pressure.

Suggested Bet: Devil’s Fiddle each way at $6 the win and $1.40 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Exacta 8 & 3

mornington race 3

#12 step forward

I love backing the Jason Warren & Dean Krongold horses at Mornington.

The training duo send out their two-year-old filly Step Forward on her home track for a debut run off some nice jumpouts.

Her most recent effort was an 800-metre jump-out up the hill at Caulfield, which saw her attack the line late in the piece.

I felt that she would be ridden for cover and have a crack late in the race as we saw her jump out.

Definite winning chance with a bit of luck.

Suggested Bet: Step Forward each way at $6 for the win and $1.60 for the place.

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 12 & 2

mornington race 5

#7 without excuse

Without Excuse could be the leader of the race based off what we have seen this preparation for her new stable.

She has raced on the speed in races with a handful of horses kicking up and holding her out, as we saw last start when she was smashed in the betting.

She went around a heavily-backed $3 favourite at Echuca and we only beaten 1.4 lengths.

The race actually rated very strongly for BM-58 level and she can definitely improve on that rating here with a strong fitness base.

A fantastic each-way play and the bet of the day.

Suggested Bet: Without Excuse each-way at $5.5 the win and $1.80 the place.

mornington race 7

#7 saucy deluxe

Saucy Deluxe is on the quick back-up for this race.

She seems to be a horse who will better appreciate the rise in distance to 2000 metres against slower horses and finding herself in a softer tempo.

Being a bit tardy away against those sharper milers has cost her at her last few starts, but this event should see her settle a lot closer in the run than she has been.

Her last start over 1600 metres saw her produce solid enough mid-race and late sectionals to suggest she can handle the 2000 metres.

Nathan Punch needs to be wise enough to probe through from the inside gate, hold a spot and use the minimum weight of 54kgs to his advantage.

Suggested Bet: Saucy Deluxe each way at $11 for the win and $4.4 for the place.

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 1, 4, 7
