All the best bets come in the back half of the 10-race card at Hawkesbury on Gold Cup Day.
The Punter’s Prince has marked a Michael, Wayne & John Hawkes runner as the best of the day.
hawkesbury race 6
#2 Malkovich
Malkovich is a fast, fit leader who should find himself with an unopposed front-running role in this race.
He went like a bullet in a trial since his last start effort, which is a sign he thriving with his racing and his fitness will be on the mark.
Josh Parr, who is a very good jockey on leaders, takes the ride and should get his sectionals right out in the lead during this race.
Additionally, he gets a massive weight swing in his advantage on main danger Eleven Eleven.
Suggested Bet: Malkovich win at $2.50
Suggested Exotic: Quinella 1 & 2
hawkesbury race 7
#1 mr mozart
Mr Mozart is the best horse in this race and he is in superb form.
The Wizard of West in William Pike takes the reigns of this horse again and it is a sign this talented colt has held his condition after his last-start win.
He has been running in very strong races of late and just perches himself up on the speed making him a nuisance to beat in a field like this.
He has a handy turn of speed and handles the wet ground.
The best of the day.
Suggested Bet: Mr Mozart win at $2.90
hawkesbury race 9
#7 imaging
He is a costly commodity this horse.
He continually lets punters down at short odds, but he definitely has the talent to be winning stakes-level races.
After being thrashed when resuming at Newcastle, he has since had a solid trial at Randwick over 1050 metres.
Have to respect the short starting price he was at Newcastle and the fact James McDonald has shown faith in him gives us confidence there is something under the bonnet yet to be revealed this campaign.
He is a good price to have a small wager on.
Suggested Bet: Imaging each-way at $15 the win and $4.6 the place.
Suggested Exotic: Boxed First Four – 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8
hawkesbury race 10
#14 hastobegood
Has not won a race since New Year’s Day of 2021, but Hasstobegood comes up long price in a race where she could easily be single figures.
Really enamoured by the riding change of William Pike replacing Regan Bayliss, which screams this horse is ready to peak this preparation.
Her last two runs this campaign have been on really heavy tracks, but she has acquitted herself quite well over distances short of her best.
Getting up to what looks to be a fast-run 1300-metre event seems ideal for her.
Will need a bit of luck from the inside barrier, but, at the price, we have to be with her.
Suggested Bet: Hasstobegood each-way at $14 the win and $4.2 the place.
Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 3, 7, 9, 10, 14
